Huntsville council has defeated a motion to move Pipe Man. Pipe Man was donated to the town by Pipefusion in November 2016. Since then the industrial piece of art has caused controversy over whether or not the location is the right one. The town even issued a survey to get public input. It was a split vote, which was broken by Mayor Scott Aitchison.

Owner and Head Instructor Steve Gagne is officially launching his new and only Taekwondo program available in Huntsville (171 Hutchenson Beach Road, Unit 3) on Thursday October 5th, 2017. 

Taekwondo is a Korean form of Martial Arts widely known as an Olympic sport. Training consist of advance kicking, basic punching, forms, sparring (contact fighting), self-defence, weapon's and flexibility. Its direct translation is 'The Arts (Do) of Hand (kwon) and foot (Tae).

In addition to the official launch day, Muskoka Kicks Taekwondo will be hosting a FREE open house Introductory class on Saturday September 30th, 2017 form 1pm to 3pm. We invite everyone (7 years plus) to come out and 'kick' it up a notch with a FUN, FIT and SELF-DEFENSIVE class.

Swift River Energy Limited hosted a public meeting in Bala on Sept. 21, with the intent on updating the public on the construction of the new hydro plant. 

However, the meeting didn't last long. Emotions ran high for residents who are against the construction, including those from the Save the Bala Falls group. YourTV producer Samantha Johnson was there to capture the meeting. 

Swift River is now reviewing whether or not they should continue to hold public meetings. 

Bracebridge council has approved the motion to love the library to a new location. The library's new home will be where the Bracebridge arena is being built. However, Mayor Graydon Smith says this will be a multi-year process.

Huntsville High School was packed on Sept. 16 for a high school reunion. People of graduating classes between the 40s and today came together to catch up with old friends, make new ones and reminisce about life in high school. 

Athletes of all skill levels spent hours on the water on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 for the longest single-day paddling race in the world. The Muskoka River X kicked off at River Mill Park in Huntsville.

Swift River Energy Limited is hosting a public meeting on Thursday, Sept. 21 to update the public on the project and to hear from them as well. There have been protests earlier in the month to stop construction. Members of Save the Bala Falls were there in those protests. The public meeting will run from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bala Community Centre, 1008 Maple Ave. 

Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller released results of a survey he sent out over the summer. According to Miller, the proposed changes, which includes the minimum wage hike  to $15 by 2019, will makes things harder for local businesses across the riding. We also spoke owners of Soapstone to see how these changes will affect them.
