In recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day, the Chatham-Kent Drug Awareness Council will be holding #free walk-in overdose response training sessions and a memorial for those who have lost their lives due to an overdose. Join them at the Chatham The Cultural Centre on August 29.

Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is looking for compassionate volunteers who enjoy working with the elderly.

Their Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) is looking for new volunteers. The HELP program is a senior friendly approach to preventing elderly patients from becoming confused or weaker while in hospital.

Having Moved from Nashville to Nova Scotia, Jimmy's new album "Moving East" is pure East Coast and brings the Maritime kitchen party to The Mary Webb Centre. His homecoming album features true stories, tall tales, and bittersweet ballads as well as that classic folk rock sound that Jimmy helped pioneer. September sees Jimmy move west, to Highgate to play for you.

This will be our 50th annual Gem and Mineral show sponsored by the Kingston Lapidary and Mineral Club. A show and sale featuring unique jewellery, crystals, fossils, minerals, gemstones, gemstone carvings, a children's mine and a jewellery workshop. Admission is $5 per person with children 12 and under free.  Hourly door prizes.

Join us on October 11th at St. Clair Centre for the Arts, as we celebrate our second annual Dreamer Day on International Day of the Girl!

 

Founded in 2014, Build a Dream is designed to educate encourage and inspire young women (Grade 7 - 12) to pursue careers in skilled trades, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Emergency Response and Entrepreneurship.

  • We create programs that will encourage young women to consider various career opportunities and make informed decisions. 
  • We develop partnerships with employers to offer hands-on camps for young women to experience these job sectors.
  • We help provide the right tools, resources, and mentorshipfor young women.
  • We provide parents with the tools to help their children make informed career choices. 

 

All proceeds will go towards supporting our programming across Canada. Also, we will be honouring our founding partners, community dream makers, and some of our dreamers.

Imagine losing some or all of your vision.  How would you tackle daily tasks such as reading your mail or organizing things around your home?  Having someone to provide sighted assistance can make all the difference.  We invite you to make a difference in the life of someone who is blind or partially sighted by volunteering at CNIB as a Vision Mate for just a couple of hours a week.
