The Compassionate Committee for the Homeless in North Bay is producing Backpacks of Love filled with donated essential items.  

We need the community of North Bay’s generosity!

Donated items will be accepted at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption, 480 McIntyre St. W. (at the garage location across the street from the church) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025.

New items needed include:

Sturdy backpacks/duffle bag                       6 pk of socks - light & heavy        
Silver emergency blanket (not regular        Sun hats/ball caps

Deodorant                                                     Sunscreen (cream only)

St. Francis de Sales Knights of Columbus Council will be serving their next Community Roast Beef Dinner on Thursday, May 8th in the St. Francis de Sales Parish Hall (434 Second St. W.) from 4:30pm to 6pm. Complete dinner including coleslaw, dinner roll, roast beef entrée, mashed potatoes, vegetables, dessert and beverage. All are welcome. Fully accessible hall with elevator service provided. Adults $15 and under 12 years $5.

These Community Roast Beef Dinners are held to raise funds in support of the Knights of Columbus Council's charitable programs in the Cornwall community.

Event Highlights

1 km Awareness Walk:Choose indoor or outdoor routes led by pace leaders, with brief stops to share facts and stories about Atypical Parkinsonism.

Inspiring Speaker: Hear a keynote address (1:30PM), Tim Brown, followed by a Q&A session (2:00PM).

Entertainment: Enjoy entertainment starting at 1:00 PM, a kids’ zone with balloon animals, and a thrilling raffle draw at 2:45 PM.

Community Fun:Explore vendor booths, grab a snack, and connect with others in a teal-themed atmosphere.

12:00 PM – Pre-Walk Social:Check in at The Hub, pick up wristbands and maps, and join a light stretch or Awareness BINGO.

12:05 PM – Welcome Speech:Learn the purpose of the walk and hear thanks to our sponsors.

12:30 PM – 1 km Walk: A short, impactful journey to shine a light on Atypical Parkinsonism.

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM – Post-Walk Social: Speakers, entertainment, kids’ activities, vendor booths, and a raffle to close the day.

Join us for our Niagara Children’s Festival Kick Off Party! The FREE Bike Parade & Community Market is a chance for families to gather and celebrate arts, culture, community, and active transport in one evening of fun.

What’s a Bike Parade?
Bring your bike, or borrow one from our friends at Bike Me Up Niagara, and use materials provided to decorate it as if it was parade float. From streamers and signs to flashing lights and sparkles – your bike is sure to turn (helmeted) heads! Then, saddle up for a GIANT group ride through downtown St. Catharines led by Niagara Glow Riders!

5:30-6:30pm
– Browse goods from local artisans
– try to solve the interactive Pirate Mystery Adventure!
– Stock up on snacks or treat yourself from local food vendors
– Decorate your bike using materials provided, or bring your own!
