The Town of Essex is back with the first outdoor movie night of the year on Saturday, July 20 in Essex Centre starting at 6pm.

Kids and their families can enjoy Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse, plus a few fun features at Essex Heritage Gardens (rain location: Essex Centre Sports Complex).

The first event, hosted in partnership with the Essex Firemen’s Association, will feature fire truck tours and important fire safety tips.

“This family-friendly event is perfect for all ages,” explained Cynthia Cakebread, Manager, Recreation and Culture. “Not only can kids get up close and personal with our local firefighters, they can also kick back and enjoy a great movie.”

The event will also feature free popcorn. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blanket and lawn chairs. The fire truck will arrive at 6pm, with the movie beginning at dusk.

A second outdoor movie night will be hosted on Saturday, August 17 at Colchester Park (rain location: Harrow and Colchester South Community Centre). Kids and their families can enjoy How to Train Your Dragon 3: The Hidden World starting at dusk. Free popcorn also included.

It's a Birthday Bash! Don’t miss the “10th” year of showcasing the Lake Erie Shoreline between Malden Centre and Kingsville, full of unique businesses and beautiful outdoor areas. Whether it's a meal to start the day, a midday lunch, dinner or a stop at one of the many crafters or wineries, you won't be sorry! The Town of Essex is hosting an exciting Family Day event in Colchester Village on Saturday, and cupcakes and fun games will be plentiful along the route all weekend. We support our local food bank, so please bring a canned good for the Harrow Food Bank, then explore all we have to offer on historic County Road 50.

With your passport in hand, follow the map and get the passport stamped at every stop. After 5 stamps, deposit it in one of the draw boxes and pick up a new passport. Every entry qualifies you to possibly win one of many door prizes. For more info, visit www.exploretheshore.ca.

What could be lovelier on a hot summer's day than to sit in the coolness of Picton's St Mary Magdalene Church and enjoy gifted local musicians? This year's free noon-hour concert series continues on Wednesday, July 17th; the featured performer is pianist Callum McDonald, playing Mozart and Chopin.. Bring a bag lunch if you like, and sit back and relax! Admission is free and everyone's welcome. Noon-12:45-ish

Join the Heritage House Museum and the Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario for the 2019 season of Smiths Falls Movies Under the Stars. This event is located by the water tower at Centennial Park and occurs on Thursdays in July and August. Pre-show activities and the concession stand start at 7:00 pm with the movie coming on at dusk. 

 

Community Event - Peterborough/Lindsay - Strutt Your Mutt

Please join us Sunday Sept 22nd at Beavermead Park in Peterborough to support the Peterborough Humane Society in Strutt Your Mutt.  We will be holding a 1km and 2km walk. Registration starts at 10am and the walk begins at 11am.  Please feel free to bring your dog to participate.  Enjoy a $5 BBQ lunch, face painting, vendors, photo booth fun, games and competitions for dogs, prizes and so much more! This event will start off this fall with a bang!

With your support of this event, we will ensure that the work of the Peterborough Humane Society continues to improve the lives of animals through rescuing, providing shelter, healing, facilitating adoption and reducing pet overpopulation.
