Probus Club of Belleville welcome retirees and semi-retirees to its meetings the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. at Marantha Church, 100 College Street West, Belleville. The guest speaker on Thursday, April 25th will be Jane Gardner of Quinte Ballet. Her topic is "Ballet...The few...The proud...The pink".
South Grenville Guild of Fine Art will present its 28th annual spring show and sale. on May 3-5, 2019. MERC Hall, Maitland. Exhibiting are artists Georgina Angel, Karen Atcheson, Jacqueline Biggs, Rachel Bushnell, Terrie Chedore, Wendy Cook, Alan Ince, Inge Kern, Virginia Leonard, Crystal Letts; Rosaleen Ma l l e t t , E l a i n e McCurdie, Lynn Steiner, Marilyn White, and Gina Widzinski. Guest exhibitors include Les Boszormeny, Gene Countryman, and Fraser Radford. There will be a free draw for an original painting by Jacqueline Biggs; as well as art demonstrations, and refreshment. Genealogy Drop-In sponsored by Leeds & Grenville Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society at our Archives/Library at 5 Henry Street, Brockville (in the basement at the Brockville Museum). Drop in any time from 10:00 am until noon on Wednesday May 1st and 15th. Members of the local Branch will be on hand to answer questions to help you in your genealogy research. The May meeting of Leeds & Grenville branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society will be held on Monday May 13th at 7:30 pm. at the Brockville Museum. Our speaker will be Catherine Paterson, PhD. Her topic is Cemetery and Monument Conservation, where she will focus on the principles and practices of monument conservation in Ontario cemeteries. Using examples from several recent projects, this talk will highlight how caring for cemeteries can draw from their significance to past and present communities. Come and find out how to research your ancestors! Everyone is welcome to attend.

Stories and Songs of Stompin’ Tom is an all-star musical tribute to Canadian icon Stompin’ Tom Connors. In this extraordinary concert event Tom’s music will be performed by his touring band Whiskey Jack along with special guests Russell deCarle (the voice of Prairie Oyster and 6x Juno winner), Cindy Church (Lunch at Allens & Quartette) and The Good Brothers (8x Juno winners). Russell, Cindy, and the Good brothers Bruce, Brian and Larry are country music royalty in Canada. They each have garnered numerous gold and platinum records during their storied careers and are country music hall of fame inductees in Canada and the US. In addition to singing their personal versions of Tom’s songs they will also perform their own hit songs. Whiskey Jack founder and long time Stompin’ Tom friend and band leader Duncan Fremlin is the evening’s musical director and raconteur with wealth of fun and personal stories to share about his time on the road with Tom. This will be a memorable and spectacular evening of entertainment for fans of Stompin’ Tom and Canadian country/folk music lovers of all ages. Niagara Catholic District School Board, and the EarlyON Child and Family Centre, invites you to a free fun, family event, FamJam 4 Wellness, May 2 at Saint Michael Catholic High School in Niagara Falls from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Children will be entertained and cared for while parents participate in a number of workshops and sessions with community partners, and listen to keynote speaker, Dr. Jean Clinton, who specializes in the connection between relationships and brain development in children.The event includes a pasta dinner, and it is all provided to our families free of charge.
