Niagara Music Gives returns for the 5th year at Polonia Park in NOTL on Saturday June 22nd. This event is FREE with donations at the gate to support the Music Gives Movement to support local kids to learn music. A 'Day of Action', one of many across Ontario, marking the one year of resisting government cuts to: Public Services, Education, Health Care and decent work.

Flyers, and other information, will be shared with the public to provide the facts on how provincial policy changes and budget cuts impact our communities in Leeds, Grenville, & Lanark.

Community Event - Cornwall - Speaker on Blood Diamonds

On Sunday June 16th, the guest speaker at the annual St. Andrews-Knox United Church Heritage service will be Mr. Ian Smillie, who will be speaking on the issue of “blood diamonds”, past and present. Mr. Smillie, a former UN Security Council investigator on this issue, has written two books on this subject, and is currently the Chair of the Board of the Diamond Development Initiative, an organization that seeks to help small scale miners bring diamonds to market in a fair and just way. Ian Smillie was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2003. The service in which he will be speaking begins at 10:30am, at St. Andrews United Church, outside of Bainsville (at the corner of Second Concession and 2nd Line.) Light lunch afterwards. Arts Council Windsor & Region (ACWR) is proud to share the work of our members this summer in the annual summer members show, windsor HEAT. Our member artists will share small works ranging from paintings, drawings, sculptures, fine crafts, books, jewelry and more! All artwork is for sale and a part of the proceeds go to supporting the programs and services offered to the artists of Windsor/Essex by the ACWR. Windsor HEAT Member’s Exhibition will be taking place during Walkerville’s 17th Annual Art Walk.

 

Exhibition: July 11 – July 26, 2019 [Tues – Fri 1-5pm, Wed 1-7pm]

Reception: Friday, July 19 from 6:30pm to 9:00pm

Open Saturdays 1-5PM! And 1-8PM July 26th, 2019 – Walkerville Night Market

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • OPEN to all CURRENT members of the Arts Council Windsor & Region
  • All media and styles accepted
  • All artwork must be for sale (being that this exhibition is a fundraiser, participating artists agree to receive 70% of proceeds from sales of their work and the ACWR receives 30%)
  • LIMIT OF 5 PIECES PER ARTIST
  • NEW: Size Limit – All work must be 144” squared or less including frame or matting. Anything exceeding the size constraint will not be accepted. Sculpture work must take up no more than a 144” square space, wall hanging or on a gallery plinth
  • Artwork MUST be completed within the last 2 years and have not been previously submitted to an ACWR members exhibition
  • Arts Council Windsor & Region reserves the right in its sole discretion to decline any works it feels does not meet the above criteria
