Stuck in the garden blues? Rapids Family Health Team offers a free cooking class that is all about making delicious and nutrient-packed salads to add flavour to your diet using local seasonal ingredients. Two classes available Wednesday July 3 and Thursday June 4. To register call 519-339-8949.
This will be the fifth annual Tug of War hosted by Kettlebells Niagara. Teams of 10 men or 10 women of 5 of each are registered for $100/team or $10 per person with all registration fees and proceeds going to Project Share. Last year's Tug of War took in $873.00 cash and 2,138 lbs of food. We want to be even better this year!!
Past teams were presented by NRP, NFF, N.F. Hydro, E.S. Fox, Win Health, Good Life Fitness, Newport Landscaping and KettleBells Niagara. Enter your team - no experience necessary.
If you're unable to participate, drop off a non perishable food item at Kettlebells Niagara, or come to Oakes Park with a food donation and cheer us on.
Are you a people person, have a few hours once a week to volunteer, want to share an interest or develop a new one? Join our volunteer team (Canadian National Institute for the Blind) and make a difference for someone who is blind or partially sighted; provide assistance and companionship to someone right in your own community. Join us to learn more on a call in being coordinate through our office in Peterborough on May 27th at 2:00 p.m. We will provide you with a toll free number for you to join us and learn more. Certified CAN-BIKE instructors will lead participants through a bicycle skills course, covering a wide array of cycling skills. This free event is designed to be fun and interactive while learning the basics of cycling! Please register with cnordbeck@callander.ca, (705) 752 2608, ext. 23., indicating the number of adults and children, and age of children. Children and adults need to bring: bicycle in good condition, properly-sized helmet, closed-toe shoes, bicycle bell. The event will take place at the Callander Community Centre from 10:30am-12:00pm. We have a number of participants who would welcome the opportunity to increase their independence with a volunteers support. Join us, Monday, May 27th, 2:00 p.m. at the CNIB office 159 King Street W, Peterborough where we are hosting a session to learn about CNIB and volunteering in the Vision Mate program.
