Reading/ musical presentation of 2 new works by local playwright Donald Lamond. Featuring Jon Cullen, Will Lamond, Kate Suhr, Jess Vandenberg with Linda Clark.

Donald has been writing plays, musical and otherwise, for several years. This production is a condensation of two of his pieces: The Pill, set in Gravenhurst in the summer of 1927, and I’ve Been Thinking of You, set in Peterborough in the fall of 1938. Both plays are comedies, with serious undertones.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear “Let the Customer Do the Work”, “Canoe Club Saturday Night”, “Broken Glass”, and “What Do Women Want”, all original songs. Linda Clark will be the pianist for this entertaining evening at Greenwood United Church, 737 Donwood Drive, just east of Television Road at Parkhill.

Do you like to care for others?  Do you have an interest in working in the health care field?  Tri-County Literacy Council is offering a free 5-week program: Health Care Support Worker. In Canada, the population is aging and the need for more support for sick and disabled individuals is increasing. There are more and more Health Care Support Worker jobs. Assisting with bedside and personal care, planning and preparing meals, helping with light housework, and spending time talking to clients are typical duties of a Health Care Support Worker. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the duties of a Health Care Support Worker, meet people working in the field and participate in a site visit to a health care facility.

This program can serve as a career exploration opportunity for those wishing to be self-employed or those wishing to further their education as a Personal Support Worker.

Class will run Monday to Thursday, 9 am to 12 pm, for 5 weeks, starting October 15, 2018.  For more information or to register, call Tri-County Literacy Council at 613-932-7161.
