Join riders from all over Ontario in our 16th annual Kawartha Lakes Classic Cycling Tour in support of A Place Called Home. With two trail route options(13k and 25k) and three road routes(50k, 100k and 160k) there is a distance for all skill levels. Routes are fully supported with rest stops and motorcycle support. The event begins and finishes at Boston Pizza Lindsay and concludes with a buffet featuring pasta and pizza.  Come join us on August 24th and help support our local homeless shelter!

The Buddhist Place is happy to offer a two-part series introducing the practice of meditation. Explore meditation in a safe and welcoming setting. A beginner’s guide to basic meditation practices. There will be periods of guided meditation, silent meditation and loving-kindness meditation. Opportunities will be provided to ask questions. Participation is open to everyone and offered freely.

We invite the public to join us at Nipissing University's Undergraduate Research Conference for an interactive book reading of Moon of the Crusted Snow with author Waub Rice.  The book reading takes place Saturday, March 23 from 1:15pm-2:45pm in Nipissing University's theatre.

Waubgeshig Rice is an author and journalist originally from Wasauksing First Nation. His first short story collection, Midnight Sweatlodge, was inspired by his experiences growing up in an Anishinaabe community and won an Independent Publishers Book Award in 2012. His debut novel, Legacy, followed in 2014. A French translation was published in 2017. His novel, Moon of the Crusted Snow, was released in October 2018.
