Public Notices/Announcements - Windsor/Leamington - Rotary Club - Acts of Kindness Program
Hey Students: Are you interested in geng together and doing something nice for someone in your community?
The Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland is providing a limited number of grants in the amounts of $50 (max) to help you do an Act of Kindness.
What is an act of kindness? It is an acon that you do to help another person; to brighten their day and make them feel appreciated. You do this act of kindness without expecting anything back for yourself other than the good feeling that comes from knowing that you did something kind. This makes you ONE OF THE KIND people in the world, and we all need kind people.
Here's how you can get the money:
Step 1. Get together with some other students (3 or more) or your class and decide what act of kindness you would like to do. It could be for a teacher at your school or the bus driver or the school crossing guard. You could do something for a local community organization near you, or a seniors' residence. There are many, many possibilities.
Step 2. Talk to a teacher or school leader about what you would like to do. You need to have an adult sign the application and agree to supervise and help.
Step 3. Fill out the grant application and send it in to the email address on the application. You will be emailed if you are successful.
Step 4. Complete your act of kindness and send us a short report using our template about what you did. You need to provide a short report about how you spent the money and send us a video (no more than 3 minutes) or a picture poster that shows us:
- What you did,
- How you felt, and
- What you learned.
You and your group will also be recognized with a “One of the Kind” certificate presented to you at a school assembly or celebration.
Don't wait too long. Deadline for sending in grant applications is Friday, December 14, 2018. Deadline for completion of project and report is Friday, April 12, 2019. Teachers: The “One of the Kind” (OK) program is a community pilot project supported by the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland. It is designed to educate and engage youth about the power of acts of kindness and how kind acts and gestures, no matter how small, can positively impact the giver, the receiver, and the community.
