The free wizardry and steampunk event that is anticipated to be the region’s most unusual and uncommon festival of the year, is almost here!
On August 3, 4 and 5, expect the unexpected in historic downtown Amherstburg. Steampunk and wizardry; a rapidly growing cultural trend that fuses technology and fantasy, inspired by 19th century fashion and steam-powered machinery.
The festival will feature live performances, escape rooms, a huge life size maze, magicians, daily aerial displays, butter beer, photo ops, teapot racing, an interactive art gallery and owl and falcon flight demos. Come in your favorite Harry Potter inspired or Steampunk costume and enter the contest presented by Windsor ComiCon. Other attractions include Park House’s presentation of “Potions and Wizardry”, a Dalhousie Alley with a stretch of shoppes where visitors can purchase merchandise, candy and other treats. And for those who want to travel back in time to witness an authentic traveling magician, Dr. Von Houligan’s Carnival of Calamities offers eight shows throughout three days in a BIG TOP, with tickets available exclusively at WFCU Credit Union locations. Each night ends with fireworks at Kings Navy Yard Park!
“Amherstburg Uncommon will be a one of a kind festival to attend on the civic long weekend” says Anne Rota, Manager of Tourism and Culture. “Bring your camera because there is something to marvel at around every corner!”
