Kawartha Lakes Public Library welcomes author Janet Stobie as she launches her new book “To Begin Again” at the Lindsay branch library on Wednesday, June 13 at 7 pm. “To Begin Again” is the story of widower, Steve Grenville, and his seventeen-year-old daughter as they begin again as a family of two after the death of wife and mother, Serena, in the small town of Catalpa Creek. Janet has written an intriguing story of laughter and tears. It will nudge you to consider how your faith affects your own response to events and people in today’s world. “To Begin Again” is both a stand-alone novel and a sequel to Janet Stobie’s first novel, “Fireweed.

We are inviting the community of Peterborough to our Open House on Sunday May 27, 2018 from 1-3pm celebrating 40 years in the community as a museum. The afternoon will include tours, hearth cooking, refreshments, photographs and exhibits honoring our volunteers, as well as a short program taking place at 2pm. Hutchison House Museum will host a Rhubarb Spring Fling on Wednesday May 23 from 1-3pm. Enjoy a taste of spring with a delicious rhubarb dessert, topped with a dollop of ice cream. Tea, iced tea, or lemonade will add a refreshing compliment to this delightful spring repast. Tickets for the Rhubarb Dessert may be purchased in advance at a reduced rate. Pay for tickets in advance at a cost of $7 or at the door for $9. Community Event - Peterborough/Lindsay - Celebrate International Museum Day @The Olde Gaol
Join us as the Olde Gaol Museum celebrates International Museum Day with a Season Opening Social – Friday, May 18 from 4pm to 7pm. Just because you have been to the museum before does not mean you have seen all we have to offer. Explore new exhibits such as Industry on the Scugog as well as newly renovated exhibits. Light refreshments will be served appropriately themed to our museum’s setting. Donations to support the museum in their fund-raising efforts are always welcome or speak to one of the staff or volunteers about becoming a member of the society.
While the museum will be closed for the Victoria Day Long weekend, summer visiting hours will begin the following week. Please visit the museum’s website for details as there may be some changes from the 2017 season.
