Community Event - Smiths Falls/Perth/North Grenville - Music at MERA Schoolhouse Wednesday May 2 at 7pm
Marie Ni Chathasaigh & Chris Newman - 7pm Wednesday May 2 at the MERA Schoolhouse in McDonald's Corners. ( 974 Concession Road 9A Dalhousie, McDonalds Corners, ON)
Live! Folklife Concert: Máire Ní Chathasaigh & Chris Newman (The Gander in the Pratie Hole)
“The virtuoso partnership of England’s premier flatpicking guitarist and “the greatest Celtic harper of our age” (LIVE IRELAND) has by now brought its unique musical vision to twenty-two countries on five continents. Chris and Máire have performed at over 175 folk, Celtic, arts, harp and guitar festivals in Europe, the USA and Australasia and have given almost two thousand concerts in venues large and small - from the tiniest of historic churches in
England, Germany and Italy to palaces in Kyoto and Istanbul, London’s Barbican, Sydney’s Town Hall and the Philharmonie in Cologne.
Together they have created one of the most distinctive voices in modern acoustic music. Their six duo and five solo CDs, instructional books and collaborations with many other luminaries of the Celtic, folk, swing jazz and bluegrass worlds express both the depth of their commitment to tradition and an eternally playful, curious and adventurous spirit.
The Belfast Telegraph said of their performance: “This celebrated duo took the place by storm. Stately Carolan tunes, jazzy Django-ish numbers, dazzling Doc Watson style flat picking fliers, driving Irish dance tunes - this pair can nonchalantly do the lot. Guitar players applauded and went sadly home to burn their instruments!”

Community Event - Smiths Falls/Perth/North Grenville - The Listening Room Series at the Perth Tea Room
Sunday April 29 at 7pm at the Perth Tea Room - tickets $20.
"Russell deCarle is no stranger to Perth, having played many times, both as the lead vocalist / bass player of Canada's iconic group "Prairie Oyster", multiple Juno Award and Canadian Country Music Award winners, and, more recently, presenting his solo shows, his sweet voice captivating. This time around, he will be offering up tunes from his recently released 'Alone In This Crowd' CD, with more of his originals and a few covers. I'm also thrilled to say the amazing guitarist, Steve Briggs, will be backing Russell. Steve’s understated style augments Russell's presentation beautifully. A portion of the proceeds from this show will go to Stewart Park Festival– a wonderful, admission by donation, not-for-profit, 3 day music & arts festival held in Perth - July 13 - 15th. Dinner Reservations, which guarantees your tickets, can be made by calling The Perth Tea Room @613-267-3170 OR, for “Show Only” Tickets, call Sue @ 613-267-7902 to arrange payment. I look forward to seeing you there, enjoying such wonderful talent, all the while, supporting an incredible Festival. Please get your tickets early because I'm sure this will sell out."

Steve & Sue Tennant put on these shows in the back of the Perth Tea Room on Sunday nights. It's billed as a "listening room" and that's what you get. A chance to see performers where the audience is listening and not talking. I want to thank them for making Stewart Park Festival the beneficiary of this show. Steve put 25 years of hard work into that festival and now continues to show his support.
