"The Shack" takes us on a father's uplifting spiritual journey. After suffering a family tragedy, Mack Phillips spirals into a deep depression causing him to question his innermost beliefs. Facing a crisis of faith, he receives a mysterious letter urging him to an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Despite his doubts, Mack journeys to the shack and encounters an enigmatic trio of strangers led by a woman named Papa. Through this meeting, Mack finds important truths that will transform his understanding of his tragedy and change his life forever. PG

You’re invited to “A Downtown Chatham Outdoor Big Poetry Reading” on Sunday, May 27, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. It will take place outside of the Downtown Chatham Centre at the corner of King & Fifth streets. It’s free and it will happen rain or shine.

Come for 10 minutes, for half an hour, for as long or as little as they like. There will be funny poems, serious poems, story poems, and nonsense poems. There will be poems by famous authors and by unknown authors. All are poems that were written to be enjoyed when read aloud.

Bring a chair, if you like. The reader is Clair Culliford of the Veranda Presents.

There will be poems by Coleridge, Kipling, Herrick, Blake, Yeats, Frost, Milton, and more. In honour of RetroFest, a car poem will be read.
