In honour of Remembrance Day, the Chimczuk Museum admission will be free on Saturday, November 11 from 10am-5pm. This is a great opportunity to see the new exhibit: Sacrifice & Courage: The Dieppe Raid Remembered, which marks the 75th anniversary of the Dieppe Raid (August 19th, 1942). The exhibit features photographs, artifacts, and firsthand accounts from local soldiers who fought at Dieppe. A guided tour of the exhibit will be offered at 2pm.

The Chimczuk Museum contains photos, stories, and artifacts collected from the many campaigns where Canadian soldiers fought for our freedom and the freedom of others around the world.

The Chimczuk Museum will also be hosting a series of talks and book signings by local authors in the afternoon of November 11:

· 12pm – Jonathan Pinto will be speaking about his book, The Best of Windsor Cookbook

· 1pm – Marty Gervais will be speaking about his new book, Five Days Walking Five Towns

· 3pm - Elaine Weeks & Chris Edwards will talk about their new book, 5,000 Ways You Know You’re From Detroit

Advent Organ Series

12:00 PM — 12:30 PM

Central United, Sarnia begins its four-week Advent Organ series at 12 noon on Nov. 30. Kicking off the hour-hour program is Sandra Young-Tangjerd, of Central Baptist, London.  All are welcome at the historic downtown church, located at 220 George Street, Sarnia. A free will donations is appreciated.   

Nov. 18 - Bake Sale & Deli runs from 8:30 - 12 noon at Central United Church, Sarnia,  220 George St., corner of Brock and George Sts.,  Selling turkey pies, butter tarts, jams and jellies, cakes and cookies, meatballs, fruit pies, loaves, squares, chili, salsa, pickles , cabbage rolls, soups.  Have your early morning coffee/tea and muffin for $2 at our Cafe.  

This month’s guest is Sheila Calder of the Cape Bretoner’s Farmgate.

Sheila has extensive greenhouse and gardening experience and has recently opened up “Sheila’s Greenhouse”. She will share the growth of her business with us:  from a local roadside farm stand to CSA Community supported agricultural; Greenhouses; Floral and Seasonal arrangements and décor; and a dabbling in Poultry and Maple Syrup.
