Join GRCA’s Fisheries Biologist at the Garden Hill Conservation Area for this fun and educational event learning how to fish. You’ll walk away knowing how to rig, bait and cast a fishing rod, identify local fish species, and fish safely and sustainably. If you have your own fishing gear, please bring it; otherwise, equipment can be borrowed through OFAH’s TackleShare Program which will be on-site. $15.00 + HST/participant. Think you have to go to the cottage to see wildlife? Think again! Northumberland County is home to a rich variety of wildlife, including the only flying mammals, bats! Join local bat expert, Chris Ketola, as we learn about these amazing animals that flutter above our heads at night. A fascinating and educational experience for all ages! This is a free event. Get ready for the planting season! Choose from numerous varieties of native plants, shrubs, trees, and groundcovers to create your perfect garden oasis. All sales are in support of the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority programs and services.

This annually sold out event is one that you do not want to miss out on! An evening of live and silent auctions, raffles, door prizes, great food and good company – all in support of the Ganaraska Forest Centre outdoor education program. Tickets are $75.00 and available in advance only, beginning in December 2017. Call the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority @ 905.885.8173 for sponsorship opportunities, to purchase tickets or for further information.

Join the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority in a celebration of all things maple syrup! Demonstrations, tours, live music, games and stories for the whole family; crafts and face painting for the kids; and of course, a pancake feast for everyone! $15.00/adult & $10.00/child (16 & under). Tickets to be purchased at Ganaraska Forest Centre Gatehouse upon arrival.

The Ganaraska Forest is beautiful year-round, but especially in the winter. You’ll want to keep coming back to explore the forest after you experience it on a pair of skis or snowshoes! Receive an intro to cross-country skiing followed by a guided ski through the forest; then try out free snowshoeing! 

$25.00 + HST/participant includes equipment rental. Refundable equipment deposit required.

On Tuesday, November 14, at 7:30 p.m., librarian Jo Stanbridge will give a slideshow and talk about how to use the library's genealogy resources, including the popular subscription service Ancestry Library Edition. This event is open to all, but seating is limited. To avoid disappointment, please register in advance.
