Encore! Professional Concert Series presents: Cuban Rhapsody with Jane Bunnett and friends

Jane Bunnett looks back and presents some of the most elegant music from Cuba's rich musical history. Performing music from the beginning of the early 20th century until the present, this evening explores the rarely heard European influences in Cuban music by great composers such as Lecuona, Valdes Cervantes, etc., melding European classical styles with Jazz and Afro Cuban Rhythms.

Celebrate with the Community Foundation for Kingston & Area on Friday, January 26 at a Special Speaker Series Luncheon for the inauguration of the Community Builder Award.

Our first recipient is Brigadier General (retired) Bill Richard

Bill has had an impressive impact on many community organizations in Kingston and area. During his term as Base Commander, he was able to unite the military and the local community. Later, he joined the City Strategic Planning group, Focus Kingston; the KGH Board; and became Chair of Imagine Kingston. Bill is passionate about the health of veterans, soldiers, and their families and was the co-founder of the Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research at Queen’s University.

BGen (Retired) Richard’s volunteer roles improve and enhance the quality of life in our community.

Come watch the fastest game on ice as two of northern Ontario's top teams battle it out in an exhibition ringette game at the West Ferris arena, the birthplace of ringette, on Sunday, January 21st at 5 pm.

The West Ferris U19s - fresh home from a gold medal win at the Burlington Blast tournament last weekend - will face off against the Nipissing University team. The Nipissing University team recently brought home a bronze medal from the University Challenge Cup, an annual event that included 14 schools from as far as Nova Scotia in the east and Alberta in the west.

This game is sure to be fast paced and exciting to watch. No admission charge.
