Writing is the Window to the Heart with Kara Ghobhainn Smith – Join Kara in the studio to develop the mindset that will stimulate the writing skills that truly reveal the window to your heart. Participants are encouraged to pen a letter to deployed troops or a veteran before they leave. Kara Ghobhainn Smith is the author of The Artists of Crow County (Black Moss Press, 2017), coauthor of Next to the Ice (Mosaic Press, 2016), Teaching, Learning, Assessing (Mosaic Press, 2007), and the author of the blogspot poetry series, The Travelling Professor. Ghobhainn Smith was Chatham-Kent’s 2015-2016 Writer-in-Residence, and Editor of the Journal of Teaching and Learning (JTL), as well as the books’ editor for the Canadian Journal of Education (CTL) and the National Reading Program of Canada. Her poems have been shortlisted for the 2016 Walrus Poetry Prize and the Polar Expressions Prize. Non-members $45 (+tax), Members Discount contact JNAAG. Lunch included. Registration required. Whittling Club – Paying homage to trench art of the Great World War, this class will return to the basics and learn the skill of whittling. Participants will learn the fundamentals of wood whittling with local experts the Triple “C” Carvers.
