Join us on October 24th from 8:30-4:30 at VentureNorth, 270 George Street North for it's inaugural PA Day Camp! Lunch and two snacks will be included; all abilities and children up to 14 years old welcome. No cost, but donations are always appreciated. Need to build confidence?  Want to set goals for the future?  Tri-County Literacy Council is offering a new 4-week training titled “Choices” starting on Monday, November 7th.  In this program, students will focus on the essential skills needed to succeed at work and at home.

Topics include:

  • Attitude/Motivation
  • Budgeting
  • Oral communication
  • Assertiveness
  • Goal setting
  • Career exploration.
  • Guest Speakers

The curriculum was developed by Tri-County Literacy Council.  The training is suitable for various learners, including those planning to enter the school environment after a prolonged absence and people changing careers. Strengthen your Essential Skills of working with others and oral communication. Join us on Tuesday, October 18th 2022, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Pathways Health Centre for Children for the Sarnia-Lambton JumpStart Teen Transition Fair 2022. The theme for this year’s fair is “Ability to Succeed, Ability to Thrive”.

This information night is meant for all parents/ caregivers of young people with a disability who are currently in high school. During the event, you can learn more about what the future can be for your teen after high school and what you can do now in preparation for this transition to adulthood.

Presentations will be made by representatives from Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) and Developmental Services Ontario (DSO).

The month of October would not be complete without the Halloween tradition. Look out for young ghostly ghouls and goblins on Saturday, October 29th from 12pm - 4 p.m. when Hutchison House Museum will host Halloween tours of the museum. Enjoy a spooky tour of the museum, make a fun craft, have your fortune told, enjoy a special treat and more! Admission for the Haunted Halloween spooktacular event is $8 per person children under 5 are free. Costumes are encouraged and an adult must accompany young children. While we do make the upper levels of the house a little spooky, it is not our intention to scare anyone. For more information contact the museum at 705-743-9710.

   The Volunteers of Hutchison House Museum are hosting an elegant Autumn Afternoon Tea on Sunday October 23rd, starting at 2:00pm to celebrate the Harvest season. A light lunch of Fall savories, sweets and tea will be served in the historic Keeping Room by firelight. The freedom and prosperity we enjoy today came at a staggering cost of human life and sacrifice. This truly Canadian act of remembrance showcases two major Canadian works recalling the Great War. John Burge’s Flanders Fields Reflections is a meditation on John McCrae’s immortal poetry, and the world premiere of Dean Burry’s Tracing Colville chronicles the war art of celebrated artist Alexander Colville.

Community Event - Muskoka - The Way We Feel

The Way We Feel – an ongoing live concert celebration of the songs of Gordon Lightfoot – brings a variety of Canada’s finest contemporary roots/blues/folk/jazz artists together to explore and showcase the songs of one of Canada’s greatest living songwriters. First performed in 2003, the concert has featured more than a 100 different Canadian artists over the years, among them multiple Juno, ECMA, WCMA, Maple Blues and CFMA-award winners all bringing their unique musical vision to dozens of classic Lightfoot songs.
