Community Event - Peterborough/Lindsay - The Peterborough Theatre Guild - The Crucible

This January/February you have the exciting opportunity to attend the Peterborough Theatre Guild’s production of The Crucible, written by Arthur Miller.  A 1953 Tony award-winning best play; an ode to courage and conscience; a rebuke of lying and tyranny; a tender love story; a cautionary tale.

Miller, one of America’s most celebrated playwrights, used the historical Salem, Massachusetts’ witch trials as an analogy for the political turmoil of his time, when the House Un-American Activities Committee held its infamous Communist “witch” hunts.  However, this compelling drama still resonates in our social/political climate today.  Bringing it closer to our time, you will see it set in the 1930’s on the Guild’s stage.

The Crucible is directed by Jane Werger, produced by Linda Conway and Elaine Orgill, and brought to life by an 18-member cast. Show dates are Jan. 20, 21, 22M / 26, 27, 28, 29M / Feb. 2, 3, 4. Tickets are available on line -peterboroughtheatreguild.com - or by calling the box office ( 705 745-4211).
