Hosted by The Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton (CCAH)

Monday, February 6, 6:00-8:00pm at the Oakville Centre for Performing Arts.

This year’s event includes a keynote speech by Diana Cooper-Clarke, who will review the fascinating
history of Jamaica’s important role in sheltering Jews during WW2, as well as musical performances by
Arlene Duncan, Miriam Lee and the Oakville Choral Society, and the CCAH Steel Band! Gimaa (Chief)
Stacey LaForme of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation is among our presenters. Prior to the show
there will be a 30-minute reception featuring the sounds of the CCAH Steel Band. Don’t miss this great
opportunity to connect with your community and enjoy free Caribbean finger foods and refreshments.
Local Black artists will also be onsite to discuss the sampling of their February art exhibits.

The theme this year is “Connecting Communities” as it represents our close connections to community
organizations in Halton that we have partnered with for February and beyond.

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased through the OCPA Box Office: Black History Month Kickoff
