Ready for Summer? Band Camp Registration Now Open!

Registration for our 7th annual Band Camp and 3rd annual Band Camp Junior are also open! We’re looking forward to welcoming a new group of teens and kids for another amazing week of camp fun.

New for 2023! Band Camp Guelph – all the awesomeness of our band camps in another new location, for music lovers in the Guelph area.

Band Camp is a week-long day camp for keen music students in grades 7-12 who want to improve their instrumental music skills in the summer. Campers spent a week in a concert band setting under the guidance of trained music professionals.

Band Camp Junior is all the fun of the senior program but with no music experience required! Kids learn a variety of musical skills while playing cooperative games and experimenting with various instruments. Band Camp Junior is for kids in grades 1-6.

The Alzheimer Society of Hastings-Prince Edward is once again hosting their February Used Book Sale on February 7, 8, and 9th at the Bay View Mall. 8:30 am – 4:30 pm each day. Tuesday: best selection, $3 soft cover, $4 hard cover. Wednesday: ½ price books! Thursday: Fill a bag for only $10! All funds raised stay local and support ASHPE! www.alzheimer.ca/hpe

Sneak peek: Residents invited to try out the new oakville.ca before it goes live this spring

Four sessions offered on February 9 for residents to provide input

The Town of Oakville is in the final stages of its website redesign and rebuild. With input from the community and oakville.ca users, the town is excited to share its progress and provide residents with a sneak peek at the new oakville.ca before it goes live this spring.

Residents are encouraged to register for one of four drop-in information sessions being held at the Oakville Public Library’s Glen Abbey Branch on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at:

·1 to 2 p.m.

·2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

·6 to 7 p.m.

·7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Space is limited so please register early for the time that works best for you and let the town know if you have any accessibility needs. Light refreshments will be provided and sessions are open to all members of the public.

The sessions will allow you to test out the new website and share you feedback including any final improvements the town can consider to ensure the best experience possible.

Some key improvements to look forward to are:

·easier to find information about programs and services

·more user-friendly navigation

·improved search results

·quick access to your online town account and services

·improved accessibility

Monday, February 6, 6:00-8:00pm at the Oakville Centre for Performing Arts.

This year’s event includes a keynote speech by Diana Cooper-Clarke, who will review the fascinating
history of Jamaica’s important role in sheltering Jews during WW2, as well as musical performances by
Arlene Duncan, Miriam Lee and the Oakville Choral Society, and the CCAH Steel Band! Gimaa (Chief)
Stacey LaForme of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation is among our presenters. Prior to the show
there will be a 30-minute reception featuring the sounds of the CCAH Steel Band. Don’t miss this great
opportunity to connect with your community and enjoy free Caribbean finger foods and refreshments.
Local Black artists will also be onsite to discuss the sampling of their February art exhibits.

The theme this year is “Connecting Communities” as it represents our close connections to community
organizations in Halton that we have partnered with for February and beyond.
