Spring into Hope

St. John’s Anglican Church, Thorold is excited to invite the community to enjoy some fresh air, fun, reflective activities, music, and food. Bring your lawn chairs to settle in for an afternoon in God’s creation for this all-ages event.

You will not only have a chance to reflect on the hope that Easter will bring, but there will also be the opportunity to take part in creative activities to spread kindness to their friends and neighbours.

After a successful gathering of the community for a joy-filled event last December, St. John’s has decided to officially name and to make their on-the-lawn events a tradition! This coming Saturday, April 9, 3-5 pm, they will host their “ST JOHN’S ON THE LAWN – Spring into Hope” – a creative journey towards Easter. All are invited, there is no need to preregister and there is no cost to participate

St. John’s is a church where we hear the Spirit guiding us and where we are strengthened to respond to where God is leading us. A place where we find rest and friendship, as well as offer hospitality to our neighbours. St John’s has been a part of the fabric of so many lives, and we are looking forward to seeing the Hope Spring into our lives as we journey toward Easter.

Enjoy viewing a retrospective show of more than 30 works by local artist Nan Williamson on Saturday, April 23rd 1-8 pm and Sunday, April 24th 12-4 pm at The Mount Community Centre. In honour of her 80th birthday, all proceeds from the sale will be donated to the The Mount Community Centre. Purchases can be made with cash or cheque only. In her drawings, acrylics, pastels, and recently in the new field of digital painting, artist Nan Williamson makes art that abstracts from reality. Her paintings reflect an ongoing exploration of ways of seeing through experiments in a variety of media. She has completed studio courses at Fleming College, Haliburton School of Fine Arts, and Toronto School of Art and studied with abstract artists, Lila Lewis Irving (Oakville), Britt Zeist (San Miguel, Mexico) and many private instructors. She has exhibited in many juried shows and multiple venues. Her work is part of the collection of the Peterborough Regional Health Centre and in private homes in Ontario, British Columbia, Texas, Switzerland, and Mexico.

Come and celebrate with Nan and support a worthy cause.
