Every Step You Take Makes a Difference! When you participate in the 2022 Hike for Hospice Event you will be hiking to help ensure our community members receive the end-of-life care they wish for and deserve. Celebrate and honour our loved ones in a special and meaningful way.

For the past 2 years we have not been able to hike side by side. This year, 2022, we are thrilled to be planning to Hike in person!

Cost: There is a minimum $50 donation required by each Hiker which will be waived if your total pledges/donations are $100 or more.

Learn the basics of MS Word 2016

Starting March 29th, the Niagara Learning Centre will be running online computer classes 

for adults to learn the basics of MS Word 2016. Classes will be held on Zoom on Tuesday

and Thursday afternoons starting March 29th. Basic computer skills are required.

Community Event - Ottawa Valley - Renfrew & Area Seniors' Home Support's Chili-Frew

Participating restaurants will be judged on presentation, smell and taste of their chili.  Judges Andrew Cartwright, Valley Heritage Radio Morning Hose, Ryan Leonard, Coach/GM for the Junior A Wolves hockey team and Aline Studart, Account Executive at MyFm 96.1. 

Participating restaurants are: Sandy's Deli, Step n' Back Diner, Coco Jarry's (Nick & Stephanie pitted against each other), Finnigan's Roadhouse, Bonnechere Bakery and Bistro, Raglan Street Foods and Karras' Way. 

$10 for chili and a bun with proceeds benefitting Renfrew and Area Seniors' Home Support.  Time is 11:00am - close (hours of establishments)

Public Notices/Announcements - Cornwall - FREE 6-Week Training: Daycare Worker

Tri-County Literacy Council's mission is to help adults in our community develop skills to be successful in the workplace.  On April 11th, they will offer a FREE in-person Daycare Training.  The 6-week program will run Monday to Thursday, 1 to 3:30 p.m., allowing the possibility of students to connect with each other and network with individuals in the field.  Topics of study will include:

  • Children's developmental stages
  • Behavioral issues
  • Meal and lesson planning
  • Daycare rules and regulations
  • Children's rights

Students will also benefit from meeting a variety of guest speakers in the field such as a local dietician, early years specialists, and a guidance counsellor to explore further educational opportunities.  A representative from the City of Cornwall will explain how to start a daycare centre.
