Holiday magic is made year after year by Ballet Jörgen’s traditional treasure The Nutcracker: a Canadian Tradition. Created by acclaimed choreographer and Artistic Director Bengt Jörgen to Tchaikovsky’s well-loved score, this delightful classic is a favourite that brings magic to the holidays.

ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE
This is a beautiful Canadian work, and audiences are taken on Klara’s familiar, magical dream journey as she arrives in Canada and experiences winter landscapes filled with snowflakes, lumberjacks, Mounties, and creatures of the woods. This celebration of the wonder of the season is based on the popular traditional story The Nutcracker and the King of mice by E.T.A. Hoffman, enjoyed by audiences for years. The ballet’s second act is remembered for its celebration of varied dances, and our charming divertissements of raccoons, loons, dragonflies, and bears demonstrate Klara’s longing for the summer months as she travels excitedly through her dreams. The iconic, show-stopping pas-de-deux in the final act is lovingly danced by Lord and Lady Birch as they usher Klara safely home at the end of the adventure. Ballet Jörgen’s Nutcracker is destined to become a national treasure that will warm the hearts of young and old alike. It is a holiday tradition that has showcased the magic of the season for years. Rediscover the joy of dance with the show that audiences flock back to again and again.

Community Event - Niagara - Help us "Wipeout the Waitlist" For Services

The Niagara Sexual Assault Centre needs your help this holiday season.

The waitlist for vital counselling services provided by NSAC to survivors of sexual violence is long. Too long. There are currently more than 150 people on the waitlist, which equates to an approximate wait time of 12 to 14 months.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, demand for services has increased. Calls to our crisis lines have more than doubled – going from 336 to 750 calls over a one-year period. The approximate time spent on the waitlist for therapy has also increased from six months to at least one year.

We are hoping to "Wipeout the Waitlist" this holiday season by asking you to donate what you can and share this campaign with your friends and family. Our goal is to raise at least $5,000. Every dollar raised will go towards helping survivors of sexual assault in #Niagara.

When you give, you can change the life of a survivor in your community.

With a few drinks and some “Ayes!” three fishermen on a small island off the coast of Nova Scotia declare independence from Canada: henceforth, they shall be known as the Princes of the Principality of Outer Baldonia! It’s 1948 when Russ, Elson, and Ron discover that the Canadian government plans to open their Atlantic commercial fishing rights to the Spanish, posing an overcrowding threat to business and wildlife. Russ, a vacationing American lawyer, has just purchased Outer Bald Tusket Island for $750. With a newly erected stone lodge, plenty of fish, two new friends, and just enough frustration about rules and regulations, Russ can do what he pleases, including requesting official recognition from the United Nations for his fledgling state and declaring war on the USSR.

Based on an absolutely true story, this hilarious play about friendship shows that when ordinary people set out to do extraordinary things, the possibilities are endless.

Auditions are at A.N.A.F. 14 Marlborough Street N. upstairs.  December 14th and 16th from 7pm to 9pm. Directed by Katie Burke Produced by Dan Youmelle.
