Job Title: Library/Archives Digitization Assistant
Work Term: 12 weeks (22.5 hours per week), $15.00 per hour
This position is open to anyone between the ages of 15-30 who resides in Leeds & Grenville Counties. Preference will be given to students in high school or college/university.
In this position, you will be converting files into Word format, uploading files to online storage, creating indexes from digital documents, looking up information in paper files held in the Archives, searching digital files for information.
Work activities to include:
- Converting pdf files into Word documents using Adobe software
- Uploading files to a cloud storage device
- Working under supervision of the Branch Chair
- Creating indexes from digital family history files
- Assisting researchers and the Librarian with other tasks as required
- Most work will be performed from the candidate’s home with approximately 5 hours per week at our Archives location, 5 Henry Street in Brockville.
Qualifications
Preference will be given to a student enrolled in high school or college with strong computer skills and an interest in preserving historical information and artifacts.
- You must take direction well, but also be able to make decisions and take initiative
- You must be comfortable with technology and able to use computers, scanners, printers
- You must have strong interpersonal and communication skills
- You must be professional, dependable, and possess a solid work ethic
- You must be able to work in a collaborative environment to ensure effective project delivery.
Skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to prioritize tasks for completion
- Strong background in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel), Microsoft Teams, and Adobe software
- Good understanding of digital file structure.
