Murray Conway married his sweetheart just two months before volunteering to serve in WWII.  A few days before D-Day he is shipped overseas to the No. 22 Canadian General Hospital with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps. - a life change experience. 75 years later, Conway's remarkable story is reimagined by his grandson during a "cocktail hour", a family tradition.

Learn how meal planning can save you money, time and help our environment. The evening features 4 speakers, including a dietitian.   A time starve business women will share her experience to meal pan for her family of 5.  A church volunteer relates the how’s to provide a simple supper for 50 participants+ every Tuesday, and a hospitality teachers shows ways to cost food, modify menu to serve large crowds to small groups, as well as ways to keep food safe and our guest dietitian provides tips to ensure your meals are nutritious. 

This is followed by a question and answer session.

This workshop is part of REAL's collaborative program:  Journey to Sustainability.

Peterborough Historical Society public lecture.  Ted Morin speaker.  The Joint Special Service Force, the "Devil's Brigade," was an elite Canadian and American unit formed in 1942 for secret missions in Norway, Italy and Romania.  Eddie Morin was one of 13 local men who served in the unit. Ted Morin is a retired manager who has researched the story of the Devil's Brigade and of his father's service in it.  He has been part of the Lakefield War Veteran's Project, where he researched and wrote Military Profiles of Lakefield area Veterans.  He is presently serving as a Director on the First Special Service Association Board of Directors.
