KFPL inaugurates Constellations lecture series with Gender: Your Guide

The days of two genders—male, female; boy, girl; blue, pink—are over, if they ever existed at all. Gender is now a global conversation, and one that is constantly evolving.

Kingston Frontenac Public Library is pleased to announce the inauguration of its Constellations lecture and demonstration series with the Kingston/Katarokwi paperback launch of Dr. Lee Airton's Gender: Your Guide (2019, Simon & Schuster). Airton is an author and Assistant Professor of Gender and Sexuality Studies in Education at Queen’s University. Their gender-friendly guide to gender diversity empowers readers with the skills we need to “welcome all of the ways that people do gender.” The work has been called "a must-have for everyone" (Washington Post), "a warm, inviting guide to a complicated area" (Globe and Mail), and "an invaluable resource for both new and veteran allies" (Library Journal).

On Monday, November 11, Airton will be at KFPL’s Central branch (130 Johnson Street) from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  Airton will read from the work, discuss its contents, and field questions from the audience.

Constellations is a new series of lectures and demonstrations encompassing politics and identity, science and technology, arts and letters, and practical skills relevant to contemporary life. Conceived and developed by KFPL’s New Adult Advisory Board (NAAB) with Teen and New Adult Services Librarian Graeme Langdon, Constellations aims to stimulate imagination and facilitate lifelong learning for all of the communities within our community.
