Community Event - Peterborough/Lindsay - Join the Kawartha String Orchestra
The Kawartha String Orchestra (KSO) is seeking new members (violin, viola, cello, and bass) for its fall 2024 season. The KSO is an intermediate-level community string orchestra located in Peterborough, Ontario. No auditions are necessary.
Under the leadership of conductor and music director Tak Kwan, the KSO plays a variety of genres, ranging from classical to folk to movie themes and more. Rehearsals are held Wednesday mornings 10-12 at Mark Street United Church, culminating in two concerts (November and May) per year to raise money for local charities.

Community Event - Quinte - Quinte Curling Club Open House & BBQ Sept 12 5pm
You are invited to a BBQ and OPEN HOUSE at the Quinte Curling Club. QCC volunteers will be cooking up burgers and dogs while sharing their love of curling. Come and see what’s inside the big grey building on the old fairgrounds. $10 for a meal. Lounge and bar will be open for hot and cold drinks.
Community Event - Sarnia - Sew Day at Canon Davis Church
Sew Day, August 24, 9am-3pm, Canon Davis Church. Come and join in with other crafters. Bring your sewing, knitting, crocheting, Quilting, or whatever craft you enjoy, share some laughs with the others and share a lunch. This month is pot luck, so bring along your favorite sharable.

Community Event - Muskoka - Walk a Mile in Their Shoes is back this September
JOIN US AND WALK FOR VIOLENCE PREVENTION IN MUSKOKA!
WHEN: Sunday September 29 - Registration 11am | Walk begins at 12 noon
WHERE: Memorial Park, Bracebridge
YWCA Muskoka and Muskoka Pride are once again partnering to organize Walk a Mile in Their Shoes to raise money for violence prevention in Muskoka. Our goal is to raise $25,000 for local gender-based violence prevention work
People of all genders and all ages are encouraged to walk a mile to show you stand in solidarity with women, girls, and Two Spirit, trans, gender diverse and queer people who are at highest risk of experiencing gender-based violence.
Wear something RED this year along with your favourite/funkiest pair of shoes.
NEW THIS YEAR: Individuals who raise $50+ will receive a pair of funky Walk a Mile socks!

Community Event - Cobourg/Port Hope - Acquired Brain Injury Co-Ed Group
Join us for 8 weeks to learn about acquired brain injuries, symptoms and challenges you may be experiencing. Learn about strategies to overcome these challenges and in addition connect with others with similar experiences who are living with ABI. This is not a respite for caregivers. This group is for individuals with an ABI that are independent in ADLS/IADLS.
