Eleven new inductees into the 2019 Windsor-Essex Musicians Recognition program have been announced and include; Maria Connel, Dusty D’Annunzio, Matthew David, Mike Fortier, Howard Fryer, Derrick Hearns, Eric Mainwaring, Kris Marentte, Wayne Lealess, Walter Riggi and the late Pat Sprague. This is the 10th year of celebration with over 150 musicians honoured to date. This year all funds raised will be donated to The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County. The entertainment will be courtesy of the Hospice Wellness Band - under the direction of Joe Perry. To conclude the evening, Musicians Recognition alumni will be asked to partake in a very special ‘Jam,’ to honour some of our local musician friends who have passed on. The annual celebration takes place at The Moose Lodge on Sun. Sept. 29 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 and include chicken dinner with pasta, salad, rolls and coffee. Cash bar.
Tickets are available now at The Moose Lodge, 777 Tecumseh Rd. W. and Long and McQuade – 1801 Walker Rd. Longtime event organizer Ken Koekstat says that being inducted into the prestigious group is so much more than being a great musician and everything having to do with an inductees involvement giving back to the community of Windsor and Essex County. Koekstat points out that area musicians are often the first people to step forward and offer their time when there is some sort of charity event that takes place across the area. “The devotion and time that these wonderful people have given freely help to make our community a better place,” said Ken Koekstat. “With so much kindness, goodness and talent together in one room it will be a celebration to remember.”

In my "Consciousness Through Elements" Art Show, I'd like to represent a collective way of living one's life that is influenced and determined by all the surrounding elements...by observing and studying the lower elements one can reach to a higher collective consciousness where love is what it is...ergo finding peace. My paintings will reflect on these singular elements...Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Space, Void, Consciousness...provoking thoughts and feelings as we observe and connect with them. Arts Council Windsor & Region - Artspeak Gallery 1942 Wyandotte St. E. Paintings can be viewed during regular Gallery hours: Tuesday Oct. 1st through Friday Oct. 4th, 1:00-5:00pm.

Museum Windsor is thrilled to announce the opening of this new travelling exhibition developed by Ingenium - Canada’s Museums of Science and Innovation, in partnership with the Communications Security Establishment (CSE). Providing visitors with a rare and exciting opportunity to view an authentic WWII Enigma cipher machine, this exhibition breaks down communications encryption: what it is, how it works, and how it affects our lives! Visitors will be able to scramble and unscramble their own messages using a cipher wheel, see how an Enigma cipher machine works, and tackle puzzles to learn if they have what it takes to work in the field of cryptology.
