The Peterborough Blood Donor Centre needs your help!
You can help us by raising awareness
OR
Organize a group of donors (it only takes 3 donors to setup a group donation). Take pictures of your team donating blood, share on social media to highlight your teams support in saving lives, tag us in your posting so we can like and highlight your involvement in the community.
Over the summer months, collections decline. It is important that we fill our open appointments between now and the end of the summer because the patient need for blood and blood products over the summer months does not decrease. As of today there are 600 open appointments between now and the end of August…
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
Each donor centre has been carefully planned around hospital and patient demand, our job is to collect what is needed to supply fellow Canadians with the lifesaving products that they need.
LIKE…
Blood: We collect, test and manufacture blood and blood products, including red blood cells, platelets and plasma. We also provide diagnostic laboratory testing services in some provinces.
Plasma: We collect plasma from volunteer, unpaid donors in Canada. We retain some of this collected plasma to meet the transfusion needs of Canadian patients, but most is shipped to contract manufacturers who use a process called fractionation to create plasma protein products. We distribute approved plasma protein products to hospitals in Canada (excluding Quebec) to treat patients with immune disorders and diseases such as hemophilia.
