Keep your eyes to the skies, kites will be flying over downtown Essex Centre on Saturday, September 21 as the Town of Essex A.C.T. Committee presents the first Essex Kite Festival.

This free event is the perfect way to wrap up summer. All participants will get a free kite to fly and the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities including contests, games and more.  Free snacks will also be provided.

Essex Kite Fest takes place at Heritage Gardens and the Essex Railway Station in Essex Centre from 11:00am to 2:00pm on Saturday, September 21, weather permitting.

“Kite flying is one of the oldest forms of entertainment, dating back over 3,000 years, and it proves you don’t need a smart phone to have fun. This festival is a great chance to unplug, come together, and enjoy some quality time with friends, family and the wider community,” said Cynthia Cakebread, Manager Recreation and Culture.
