The County Seniors Centre is hosting the second annual Seniors Information and Active Living Fair. See 50+ “vendors” from the community showcasing the services they offer, as well as presentations and demonstrations. This FREE event is  open to the public.  It starts at 10:00am with activities through to 3:00pm.  Organizers recommend planning to attend for the full day as presentations are scheduled every half an hour.  All are welcome! Door prizes, free refreshments, free  snacks and a free lunch (while supplies last) will be available. Free transportation for seniors. Anyone can learn to play and local musician and teacher Don Hinde will show you how. This series is for seniors 60+ who are eager for a new hobby or wish to play again. It’s never too late to learn!  The cost is $40.00 and starts Monday, October 21st and will run for 6 consecutive weeks at Community Care for Seniors offices located on 74A King Street in Picton from 10:00 to 11:00am. Community Event - Belleville - Intermediate Watercolour Painting Workshop

Artist instructor Luanne Hartman will take you to the next level of painting. Artists require some basic knowledge and experience for this intermediate level of watercolour painting.  This series will run for 4 consecutive weeks with 2 hour classes starting Tuesday, October 15th from 1:00 to 3:00pm at the Wellington Town Hall located at 246 Wellington Main Street.  Bring your own materials (a list will be provided at time of registration).  Space is limited and it is recommended to sign up early. County Senior Centre members $100.00, non-member fee $125.00.  Pre-registration and pre-payment are required.  Contact the County Seniors Centre to register at 613-476-7493.

AUGUST 29 to 31 AN EVENING OF ONE ACT PLAYS presented by the Belleville Theatre Guild. Six plays will take over the stage of the Pinnacle Playhouse for three nights. This program of one act plays follows a now established tradition of showcasing the talents of members of the Guild. 

The plays: "Him-a-Layin' Krystal Bawl" by Victor Schukov; "Things Happen" by Ian C Feltham; "Trifecta" by Judie Preece; "The Flooding" by Maurice Leslie; "The Discombobulating Greeting" by Adri Boodoosingh; and "The Necklace" by Keith Taylor. The writers present a diverse range of subjects but have to be able to deliver their messages in only one act.

$10 tickets for the One Act Plays are available at the Pinnacle Playhouse box office or online at: http://bellevilletheatreguild.ca. More information and the upcoming winter schedule is available on the guild's Facebook page.

Community Event - Belleville - Indoor Escorted Walking Programs

Seniors can walk in a supervised and safe environment at either of the two indoor walking program locations offered by the County Seniors Centre. Walk indoors from the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to the Friday before Victoria Day. Participants walk Monday to Friday morning at the Prince Edward Collegiate Institute in Picton and on the rubberized track at the Wellington & District Community Centre. A membership to the County Seniors Centre is required. The program is free.  Call the County Seniors Centre at 613-476-7493 to register or for more information.

Community Event - Belleville - 55 Alive Mature Driving Classroom Refresher Course

A 55-Alive safe driving course is offered by the County Seniors Centre at the Community Care for Seniors offices on 74A King Street, Picton from 9:30 to 3:30pm.  The Canada Safety Council developed this mature driver retraining program which is designed specifically to help older drivers improve their driving skills. Compton Singh is the certified instructor. The cost is $35.00 per person which includes a light lunch, workbook and refreshments.  Registration is open to all.   Call 613-476-7493 to register or for more information.  Space is limited so call today.
