May 26, 2019 - Kingston, Ontario – Beth Israel Synagogue Auxiliary is once again pleased to open their doors and invite the public to the annual bakery and gift market to be held on May 26, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Formerly the Hadassah- Auxiliary Bazaar, this event has taken place yearly for over fifty years and offers delicious baking and purchasable items to delight people of all ages.
Food and items of interest are traditional Jewish baking, i.e., “challah” bread, estate household pieces, vintage and retro clothing, accessories, home-made gift items and much, much more.
“Every year is a new adventure”, says Ellen Turcotte, Past President. “We are always very proud to showcase our synagogue and share our Jewish traditions and culture”, states Turcotte.
The items will be available for purchase over two floors and auxiliary volunteers have been busy baking and preparing for the event for months.
New this year is an hour dedicated to engagement and learning about the Jewish culture. “Ask the Rabbi” will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Rabbi Erin Polansky will be on hand giving tours of the sanctuary and answering questions about Judaism. “Our culture and traditions are not that much different from other faiths and I look forward to sharing information about Judaism and our traditions with those interested in hearing more”, states Rabbi Polansky.
Parking is available on site, on Centre Street.
