Community Event - Peterborough/Lindsay - Anti-Racism Unity Feast- potluck and story share
Together we rise, we protect and we connect- unified against white supremacism, xenophobia, islamophobia, colonialism, antisemitism, environmental racism, anti-blackness, anti-migrant sentiment and racism in all of it’s forms. Together we feast, we dance, we sing, we laugh, we share, we rejoice- united by our collective will to create true bonds and relationships of solidarity, fortitude, honesty, integrity, loyalty, understanding and mutuality.
Bring a dish to share (with ingredients written down please), dishes, a cup and cutlery to eat from, your stories about food, land and culture and an open heart as we meet and feast in celebration of our share commitment to building a strong, resilient, responsive, skilled, connected, dedicated, supported, supportive, inclusive, intersectional, intergenerational, inspiring, creative, caring, care-ful, conscious and courageous anti-racist movement here in Peterborough/ Nogojiwanong.
We will share food, music, words and hear about the role that Migrant Farm Workers play in the Canadian food system. Tape and posters with anti-racist messages will be provided in the hopes that people will help to once again poster and share messages of acknowledgement and solidarity. ALL WELCOME AND INVITED! This event is a local response to the Migrant Rights Network’s cross country campaign to inspire communities to organize against racism and raise the profile of issues related to racism in the lead up to upcoming federal elections.
