Keep your resolution to get involved in your local community!  If you are excited and motivated to fight back against cancer and to raise funds and awareness for the Canadian Cancer Society consider getting involved with Relay For Life. The Canadian Cancer Society Peterborough Community Office is seeking passionate volunteers to serve in a leadership capacity to plan and deliver 2019 Relay For Life in June in Peterborough.  As a Relay For Life Leadership Volunteer, you will be helping the Canadian Cancer Society raise funds for cancer research and support for people living with cancer, family members and friends. Your strong community connections, proven leadership, and networking skills will encourage teams to fundraise to help forward cancer research across Canada.

Volunteer Opportunities are available for the following positions:

  1. Community Team Recruitment and Retention Lead:  By utilizing your personal and professional networks you will assist in the promotion and team recruitment for Relay For Life by working collaboratively with your Canadian Cancer Society staff partner and the Relay For Life Event Experience Chair. This role involves prospecting, developing and establishing new relationships and leads within Peterborough and District, and sharing those leads with your staff partner as well as re-engaging past participants and teams.
  2. Corporate Sponsorship and Team Recruitment Lead:  As the Corporate Sponsorship and Team Recruitment Lead, you will utilize your personal and professional networks to assist in the promotion and team recruitment for Relay For Life by working collaboratively with your Canadian Cancer Society staff partner and the Relay For Life Event Chair. This role involves prospecting, developing and establishing new relationships and leads within the corporate community and sharing those leads with your Canadian Cancer Society staff partner.
  3. Social Media and Communications Lead:  As the Social Media and Communications Lead, you will identify Relay For Life promotional opportunities.  Working collaboratively with your Canadian Cancer Society staff partner, you will create and implement a social media communications strategy to establish a strong brand and social media presence.

Get ready to party away the February blues with a night out dancing! Niagara’s #1 Party Band, Sandy Vine and the Midnights, are ready to have you grooving and singing to biggest hits of our time. Tickets are $35/person, and can be purchased starting in December by calling or visiting McNally House.
A cash bar, late night buffet, raffles, door prizes, a silent auction and supporting a great cause makes for a fun night out for all. This year’s dance will have a Valentine’s Day theme, so grab your sweetie and come on out!

Spring is just around the corner and New Beginning’s 12th annual Say Yes to the Prom Dress is fast approaching on Saturday March 16 from 10am-2pm! For one day only, girls can browse our huge selection of formal, prom and graduation dresses ranging in sizes from 0-26.  It is FREE and open to the public…  Plus there will be plenty of fitting rooms available to ensure a perfect fit.

Since its inception 12 year ago, Say Yes to the Prom Dress has helped over 1400 young women find the dress of their dreams in celebration of formal events like prom and graduation. We couldn’t do this without the support of our community which is why we are asking you to help make dreams come true by donating new or gently used dresses to our event. Dresses can be dropped off Monday-Thursday 9am-6pm at 1049 Janette Ave., Windsor.

 

Needed:

• Prom dresses

• Semi-formal dresses

• Graduation dresses

We are especially in need of sizes 0 to 4 and 14+
