Chatham-Kent Public Library is pleased to host the Sydenham Field Naturalists Winter Speaker Series 2019. Sydenham Field Naturalists welcome the public to learn about and support our unique ecosystem in Chatham-Kent. This four part series will feature guest speakers addressing pertinent topics pertaining to Southwestern Ontario environmental concerns.
Sydenham Field Naturalists will meet in Chatham Branch’s meeting room on the last Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend the meetings and no registration is required.

If you or someone you know is using opioids, they are at risk of an opioid overdose. According to Public Health Ontario, there have been a 246% increase in opioid related deaths in Ontario since 2003. Chatham-Kent Public Library is proud to host Sonya Russchen, RN, BScN from Chatham-Kent Public Health to speak about how to Naloxone.
This training will provide information on how to recognize an overdose, what to do in the event of an overdose and how to administer Naloxone. Participants will receive a Naloxone kit at the completion of the training. The information session will take place in the Chatham Branch Meeting Room on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm

You are cordially invited to attend the first Annual Winter Gala hosted by students, parents and staff of John McGregor Secondary School. It will take place on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. This black-tie event will feature displays highlighting several of the school's programs:
Santa and Mrs. Claus will bring holiday greetings. Seasonal entertainment will be provided by the JMSS Band conducted by Mrs. Ross, and a drama class production under Mr. Pearson’s direction. Members of the Delaware Nation at Moraviantown will perform traditional drumming and dance. The night will be concluded with a Nutcracker Ballet performance leading into the Cosmetology Gala Hair Show and SPA Club Beauty Walk staged by Mme. Thibault. Refreshments are being prepared by the Hospitality and Tourism Program.
This evening will also be an opportunity to raise funds for several local charitable organizations. We are requesting donations of non-perishable food items, socks, hats, scarves, and mittens. These items will be forwarded to Outreach for Hunger, the Wulamaliswiikaan (Eelūnaapèewii Lahkèewiit/Delaware Nation Health Health Centre, the United Way of Chatham-Kent, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Chatham-Kent and the Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre
