The February 13th meeting of the Niagara Region Orchid Society at Holy Rosary Church Hall, Thorold  will feature a penny sale and a demonstration on how to separate a large orchid.  Starts at 7:30 pm. All are welcome.

St Jean Baptiste Church, 500 Isabella St. Pembroke,  hosts the 2019 World Day of Prayer service on Friday March 1 at 2 PM and again at 7 PM. Women from 15 Pembroke area churches will participate in the service. This year's service was written by the women of Slovenia. All are welcome.

Parking and a handicap entrance are available. Refreshments follow the service. Please join us.

The County Seniors Centre presents this a 1 ½ hour free PowerPoint talk and demonstration for those who are considering taking the two day Therapeutic Touch Level 1 Workshop being held April 15th and 17th in Picton.  Therapeutic Touch® is a gentle holistic, energy-based healing therapy. Research and clinical experience have shown its effectiveness in promoting a relaxation response, reducing anxiety and stress, managing pain, improving sleep, facilitating the body’s natural healing process and fostering a sense of well-being.  This free introduction will be held at the Community Care office, 74A King Street, Picton on Thursday, February 28th from 1:30 to 3:00pm by Alison Cooke, Recognized Teacher.  To register call the County Seniors Centre at 613-476-7493.   www.communitycareforseniors.org

Community Event - Belleville - County Seniors Centre Member Luncheon Social

Members of the County Seniors Centre are invited to enjoy a scrumptious meal on Wednesday, February 27th at the North Marysburgh Town Hall.  Note this meal will be served at 12:30pm. The menu for this Seniors Luncheon Social features homemade soup, chicken pot pie, potatoes, vegetable, dessert, bread and butter, coffee and tea, all catered by Bill Grieve, the chef with Wheel House and Occasions Catering.  The cost is $10.00 per person.  This event will include a presentation from Deborah Row, Co-ordinator from the County Seniors Centre about Active Living in the County and upcoming activities and programs.  To join the County Seniors Centre and to reserve your place at this event call by the Tuesday prior at 12 noon. 613-476-7493.    www.communitycareforseniors.org

The County Seniors Centre presents Annette Keogh from the Prince Edward-Lennox & Addington Social Housing office who will give a talk for seniors interested in geared to income housing.  This will be followed by a question and answer period.  Bring your questions and enjoy a chat over coffee.  This presentation is on Thursday, February 21 and will begin at 11:00am.  It is open to all, refreshments will be provided.  The North Marysburgh Town Hall is located at 2699 County Road 8, Waupoos. The County Seniors Centre presents “How well do you know the bats of Prince Edward County?” Terry Sprague looks at the six species that have been identified in The County as well as two other species that have been found in the Bay of Quinte area.  Terry will explore what he calls the world of “myth-conceptions” about bats getting into your hair, loving the taste of blood and being blind (as a bat).  This presentation is full of fun, facts and flights of bats and some of the challenges they face today, and how we can help in their survival.  Register to attend on Friday, February 15th from 1:30-2:30pm at the Sophiasburgh Town Hall.
