Public Notices/Announcements - Windsor/Leamington - Student Writers Can Bring Homes to Windsor
The children in your family or school have an opportunity to help a family in Windsor become a Habitat homeowner, thanks to the "Meaning of Home" national writing contest. The contest asks students in Grades 4, 5, and 6 to share what home means to them at www.meaningofhome.ca
Three grand prize winners, one for each grade, will win an iPad, a Pizza Party, and most importantly a grant of $25,000 directed to a Windsor affordable home build through Habitat for Humanity.
More local entries equal more local funding.
For every local child that submits a poem or story at www.meaningofhome.ca a $10 donation will be made by Genworth Canada to Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex.
In the last 12 years, over 50,000 students have shared what home has meant to them. Thanks to their inspiring words, and Genworth Canada’s generous support, the Meaning of Home contest has raised over $1 million to build homes across Canada for families in need of decent and affordable housing
