Community Event - Windsor/Leamington - Look Again! The AGW Collection at 75 Years

Three years ago, the AGW made a multi-year commitment to showcase the Gallery’s Collection to provide opportunity for sustained engagement in learning about art in Canada and to support visitor experience and student learning. We are thrilled to launch its next iteration. This exhibition continues to profile themes of Canadian Heritage and the Land and Portraiture and the Body, and celebrates the historical collections leading to the 20th century. This time we will enrich these topics with more diversity and feature new acquisitions, many of which expand the Gallery’s ongoing commitment to cultural diversity. For the student and teacher experience this exhibition is supported by AGW’s continued commitment to supporting the Ontario Provincial Curriculum in seven programs serving grades K-12. This exhibition will include many of your favourite works and those which have truly defined the Gallery’s collection - Prudence Heward, Emily Carr, members of the Group of Seven and their contemporaries. Enriched is the Gallery’s continuing commitment to Indigenous histories, especially in the Great Lakes basin, for example works by Bonnie Devine, Norval Morrisseau, Daphne Odjig and Angus Trudeau. The AGW collection - it’s your resource to enjoy and share with family and friends, colleagues and peers. A special thank you is extended to our multi-year exhibition sponsors who include The Morris and Beverly Baker Foundation, Windsor Mold Group, The Chandisherry Foundation, Mary and Bud Weingarden, Jennifer and Sean White and Teppermans. Thanks are also extended to Education Sponsors Bill & Rochelle Tepperman and for the 75th Anniversary, the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund. Co-curated by Catharine Mastin and Chris Finn. Non-members $10 Gallery admission. FREE to AGW Members.

This exhibitions opens on November 30, 2018, and is on-going.

Submitted by bseigel on

As part of the Pembroke Street East shave and pave project the intersection of Pembroke Street East and Mackay Street will require traffic control by the OPP on Friday, November 23rd from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm. (Weather dependant). This is required to allow for the paving of the top surface of Mackay Street, from Pembroke Street East to Alfred Street. The City of Pembroke asks that drivers respect the posted construction signage and traffic control persons at all times.

You are also reminded that the businesses within the construction and detour zones remain open for business and the many business owners would be happy to serve you. Businesses not accessible from a side street will be signed for access off Pembroke Street.

We thank you for your patience as the City of Pembroke continues to improve our infrastructure.
