Downtown Thorold will be hosting a costumed dog event - The Halloween Canine Costume Contest on Saturday, October 27, 2018. Dress up your pups (and yourself too if you want!) and come for a walk to receive treats in downtown Thorold.

Pre-registration is advised. Online registration is available at www.thoroldbia.com/events.  Paper registration forms are available at PetValu or A Yellow Flower Basket. PetValu is giving swag bags to the first 75 registrants. Registered participants will meet up for pictures and sign-in and follow a path through downtown where businesses, judges and friends will be waiting to see all the great costumes. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun!

Check in is at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of Front St. N. and Regent Street (across the street from Bocchinfuso Funeral Home) and the promenade through the sidewalks of Downtown Thorold starts at 11:00 a.m.  Judges are placed along the promenade route and prizes will be presented at PetValu - Thorold at 12:30 a.m.

There are four costume categories available to win: “Best Friends” for the best group costume. “Cobblestone Cutie” for the chosen winner by residents of Cobblestone Gardens Retirement Home. The “Boo“ Award for scariest costume sponsored by Bocchinfuso Funeral Home. “Thorold's Top Dog” for the best overall costume. Top Dog gets a bag of Performatrin Dog Food from PetValu Thorold.

The Thorold Lions Club Annual Pumpkin Sale Fundraiser will be set up along the route and the City of Thorold will be distributing information on the DocuPet Thorold Pet Licensing program. Thorold Community Activities Group "Camper" will lead the Promenade.

The event is presented by: The Thorold BIA,  PetValu - Thorold, Thorold Veterinary Hospital , Cobblestone Gardens Retirement Residence and Bocchinfuso Funeral Home in co-operation with Lynn's Dog Grooming, Thorold Community Theatre and  A Yellow Flower Basket.

For those wishing to shop or dine downtown following the event, Lynn's Grooming Salon on Front Street will be offering FREE dog sitting!
