Ojibway Parkway between Sandwich Street and GN Booth Drive will have lane closures in both directions for road repairs from 7am to 7pm, Tuesday, August 7 to Friday, August 17.

The Peterborough Newcomers’ Club was established in 1972 and is a member of the national Newcomers’ Council of Canada that has many clubs across Canada.
We are a non-profit organization that operates with a volunteer Board of Directors. The purpose of the club is to provide a network of social activities that bring together men and women of all ages who have recently moved to Peterborough and surrounding area, or anyone that has experienced a recent significant life change (retirement, divorce, widowed, etc.).
We have monthly meetings to:
• make new friends
• meet others with common interests
• plan member generated activities
• join an interest club
• learn about the Community
We meet on the third Wednesday of the month from 7:00pm – 9:00pm at Activity Haven on 180 Barnardo Ave. Our meetings run from September through to June. We welcome new members at every meeting.
Community Event - Peterborough/Lindsay - Peterborough Concert Bands Remembrance Day concert
Sunday, November 11, 2018 (2 to 3 pm) - a Remembrance Day concert at Royal
Gardens retirement home, featuring Barb Monahan on vocals. The band will play
tunes from both World War eras, including some very familiar numbers by Irving
Berlin and old chestnuts like "White Cliffs of Dover" and "It's a Long Way to
Tipperary". Come and share this evocative music with us, and sing along!

Community Event - Belleville - Introduction to Therapeutic Touch
Are you interested in alternative treatments for stress relief? The Belleville Public Library will be hosting an Introduction to Therapeutic Touch ® workshop on Sat. Sept. 22 at 11 am in the 3rd floor meeting room. With Alison Cooke, a Therapeutic Touch of Ontario recognized Practitioner and Teacher, this workshop will discuss how to use Therapeutic Touch for you and your loved ones.

Community Event - Peterborough/Lindsay - Peterborough Concert Band 160th celebration party
Sunday, October 28, 2018 (3 to 5 pm) - the Peterborough Concert Band will be
hosting a party at Market Hall to celebrate 160 years of continuous operation
as Peterborough's community band. The event will include a 2-hour concert of
music that touches on each decade of the band’s existence, followed by a
catered reception. A variety of appetizers will be on offer plus one beverage
from the bar (wine, beer, pop) for each ticket-holder, as well as unlimited
coffee and tea – all for the very modest price of $10. Tickets will be
available in September from Market Hall and also from any member of the band.

Community Event - Peterborough/Lindsay - Peterborough Concert Band
Saturday, September 15, 2018 (noon to 4 pm) - the Peterborough Concert Band
will be participating in a free concert at Peterborough Square (corner of
Water and Charlotte) featuring four bands playing a wide range of musical
genres, including big band, concert band, and Dixieland tunes. This event is
generously sponsored by the Peterborough Downtown Business Improvement Area.

Have you taken one of our computer classes but feel like you could use more practice? Or maybe you need a little help coming up with ways to keep those computer skills fresh? Come and join us for our confidence-building drop-in group sessions. Work on your surfing skills with our Internet scavenger hunt, work with Facebook, practice moving, copying or deleting files – from a desktop or an USB -- all this and more in a supportive environment with zero fear of “messing up”. Each week will focus on a new topic. Every other Wed. from Sept. 19 – Dec. 12 from 10-11 am.
