The North Bay Public Library Children’s Department will be hosting Junior Book Club with Frontier College on Wednesday evenings starting January 9 from 6 – 7 p.m. in the Children’s Storyroom. Children ages 6-12 are invited to explore different themes through games, activities and stories with Frontier College tutors. The program is free and the fun is guaranteed. Junior Book Club is a great way for kids to learn about diverse subjects of interest in a hands-on way. Each weekly session introduces a new theme for kids and volunteers to explore (anything from volcanos and earthquakes to family pets). Theme pack kits include books (fiction and non-fiction, storybooks, chapter books, graphic novels, and more) and games, crafts, activity or experiment, and a variety of activity sheets. The materials included in each kit are all variations of the same theme, and participants are encouraged to do a bit of reading and writing each week by exploring the themes from their own perspective. This event will run until Wednesday April 3, 2019. Registration is required and will begin on Monday, December 3 at 9:30 a.m., either by phone (705) 474-4830 or in person at the Children’s Desk. Registration is limited.
