Community Event - Peterborough/Lindsay - Blood Donors are Needed this Summer

Summer is traditionally a difficult time for us to collect blood. With people away or busy with other activities, there tend to be fewer blood donations during the summer. But cancer patients, accident victims, and people with blood disorders rely on blood transfusions every day. Since blood products have a limited shelf life, demand is constant.

July 17 to September 2

Opening Reception: July 17, 5:45 to 6:30 pm

The Film House Lobby, First Ontario Performing Arts Centre

250 St. Paul Street, St. Catharines

Join us at the opening of this exhibition of art made by 16 to 18 year old youth who will work with Brock University Assistant Professor of Visual Art Amy Friend to create original works using their own family documents, based on the exhibition Carry Forward. The youth will have deepened access to Carry Forward, then conceptualize, plan, and execute their work at Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts within a cross-cultural learning environment. Family documents will act as springboard for visual exploration of camera-less techniques, allowing the youth to bring the ideas of Carry Forward into their own lives and experience.

Art-Making With Family Photographs and Archives is a partnership between Rodman Hall Art Centre and the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts. The exhibition is presented in partnership with The City of St. Catharines Cultural Services.
