The Brockville Museum’s latest temporary exhibit invites visitors to explore the history of some of Brockville's landmark buildings that are no longer with us.
Utilizing pieces of lost buildings that were donated to the museum, the exhibit, “Pieces of Brockville”, highlights some of the factors that contribute to the loss of old buildings as well as the efforts to preserve other heritage buildings.
The exhibit looks at some of the devastating fires that have altered local streetscapes as well as the story behind buildings that were lost to neglect. But the exhibit isn’t just about what has been lost; it is also about what has been saved. The exhibit opened on June 8th and will run until April 2019. Admission to the museum is by donation.
While the exhibit focuses on buildings represented by physical objects in the museum’s collection, the museum’s upcoming Talk & Tea program, which runs Thursday, July 12th at 2pm, will be broader, exploring the history and architecture of several other historic buildings in Brockville. Talk & Tea is a public program led by museum staff that explores different aspects of Brockville’s history each month and that offers an opportunity for attendees to share their own memories in a relaxed environment over a cup of tea. Admission to Talk & Tea is just $2.

The Near North Palliative Care Network has been providing free visiting hospice palliative care and grief support in the community since 1987. The NNPCN would like to invite the public to their 9th Annual "Live Butterfly Release" happening Saturday July 14, 2018 from 11am to 1pm at the Kiwanis Bandshell Waterfront, North Bay.

NNPCN is a non-profit charity and the Live Butterfly Release is their largest fundraiser. NNPCN releases butterflies as a physical symbol to help the community to create a ceremony of remembering.  Butterflies can be a very powerful image and releasing a live butterfly can mean different things to different people. Butterflies can be viewed as a release of the grief but can also be seen as a celebration of life.

With a $30 donation to the non-profit charity, the NNPCN will provide you with a butterfly to release at this event or with a $100 donation NNPCN will provide you with four butterflies to release at the event.

To reserve your butterflies: call (705) 497-9239, or email office@nnpcn.com, or drop by the NNPCN office Monday- Friday from 830 am to 430pm, located at the St. Josephs Motherhouse 2025 Main St. West, North Bay
