All are invited to the 2018 “Be Courageous” Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses. There will be two conventions, the first being held June 15-17, and the second, June 22-24.

The theme of this year’s series is “Be Courageous.” The conventions will be held at venues in 180 different lands, including 29 locations across the country in Canada.

Stressing the timeliness of this theme, Wayne Gratton of the convention Media Department states, “These are critical times and we need courage now more than ever – at school, at work and when disaster strikes. The goal of this convention program is to examine these critical times in the light of Bible principles. Any who attend will find that these principles will help them build courage to face today’s chaotic world.”

Public Notices/Announcements - Niagara - NPARC Announces Field Day 2018

ARRL Field Day is the single most popular on-the-air event held annually in the US and Canada.

On the fourth weekend of June of each year, more than 40,000 Radio Amateurs gather with their clubs, groups or simply with friends to operate from remote locations.

Field Day is a picnic, a campout, practice for emergencies, an informal contest and, most of all, FUN! It is a time where many aspects of Amateur Radio come together to highlight our many roles.

While some will treat it as a contest, other groups use the opportunity to practice their emergency response capabilities. It is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate Amateur Radio to the organizations that Amateur Radio might serve in an emergency as well as the general public.

But despite the development of very complex, modern communications systems – or maybe because they ARE so complex – Amateur Radio has been called into action again and again to provide communications in crises when it really matters. Radio Amateurs are well known for our communications support in disaster situations.

This year the Niagara Peninsula Amateur Radio Club, NPARC is celebrating 70 years as an amateur radio club. NPARC will conduct Field Day this year at Balls Falls Conservation Area on June 23rd and June 24th starting at 2 PM Saturday through Sunday afternoon. A public demonstration station with information about amateur radio will be on display.

We invite the public, the press and municipal/government officials to stop by and visit. NPARC will be located at the Upper Parking Lot Area. There will be a sign on the gate marking the entrance. This will be a great opportunity to learn what amateur radio has to offer.
