"A thin membrane of fabric is stretched over an armature; such is a tent. A simple yet ingenious architectural form, it appears across countless centuries and virtually every culture. It is an ancient shelter that has protected both royalty and the homeless."

This is how John Notten starts his artist’s statement for The Tent Project, a body of work that explores the many personalities of a simple and familiar object.

The Tent Project will be on display from June 15 to August 12, 2018.

Opening Reception: Friday, June 15th from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at the Grimsby Public Art Gallery.

On Thursday July 26th, T2B and Eagle Press and Equipment in conjunction with “Gifts from Ed” will bring the Fly Fishing Film Tour to downtown Windsor at the beautiful Capitol Theatre. Funds raised for this event are in memory of Ed Polewski. Ed was a long time T2B supporter and an avid Fisherman his whole life and a firm believer of returning caught fish back to the water happy and healthy. The film features some amazing high definition footage of remote and unique fishing locations, where fish like Permit, Tarpon, Salmon, crazy Steelhead and the terrifying Tiger Fish are featured in these films. Films are shot from Africa, Honduras and Dubai, just to mention a few. We’ll have live fly tying demonstrations along with a local fishing expert talking about fishing in our area. We’ll also have info on Fishing Outfitters from our region where you can book a fishing charter for a variety of fish. Kids are welcome too ! Let’s get the video game controllers out of their hands and replace it with a fishing rod. We’ll be selling raffle tickets for some great Fishing Charters and other great prizes too.

Lambton County Library branches are ready to encourage children to Discover Your Passions during their Summer Reading Programs, July 3 to August 19.   Programs have been planned to entice participants to dabble in art and photography, create with LEGO, and explore technology with Makerspace.

Participants can collect stickers with the TD Summer Reading Club's bilingual passport to record their individual reading progress.  Children are eligible to win a book prize for every five books read to a maximum of four prizes per participant.   Plus, children can qualify to enter their name in a draw for a chance to win a prize pack!  To qualify for the draw, participants need to talk to branch staff about a book they are reading, attend one of the many programs available, or submit a photo of their craft, created at the library or at home, to www.lclibrary.ca

Teens, ages 13 - 17, are invited to get creative and express themselves with the 'Wear Your Passions' contest.   Lambton County Library is looking for teens to submit an original T-shirt design, either drawn freehand on paper or with the use of computer software and submit it to the Library website at www.lclibrary.ca before August 19, 2018.    Voting on the designs by the public will open on August 20, and will close August 26 at 11:59 p.m. The grand prize winner will have their design printed on a custom T-shirt.  As well, the winner will receive the 'Wear Your Passions' prize pack that includes a $25 gift card to The Book Keeper, an Emoji Party game, and four white T-shirts with fabric markers.  Note:  Designs will be reviewed before they are posted publicly.  Participants retain the rights to their original design.

Adults too can participate with the Adult Summer Reading Program and enter their name in a draw to win one of eight $50 gift certificates from locally owned independent businesses.
