Young budding entrepreneurs will pitch their ideas to our panel of judges in a hope to win cash prizes in this fun exciting event.

Students from the Wallaceburg High school have chosen a local business to create a hypothetical plan to expand with their creative ideas. The student with the best idea, who has done the most research, and presents the best will be awarded $700. Also up for grabs are runners up prizes who will receive $500 and $300. 

Judges include MPP Monte McNaughton, Councillor Jeff Wesley, along with financial guru Steve Brent and local entrepreneur Lori Dutot.

Come celebrate the 12th annual “Astronomy Day” with the Peterborough Astronomical Association (PAA), at the Riverview Zoo, Peterborough, in the afternoon and Ashburnham Memorial Park (Armour Hill) on Saturday evening, May 26th, 2018. This year, the day is named in honour of influential PAA member, John Crossen, who has passed away earlier this year.

Saturday, May 26th

(12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.)

Weather permitting, safe public solar viewing, at the Riverview Zoo, outside the Rotary Education Centre/Guest Services Building.

Regardless of weather inside the building there will be;

Free crafts and activities for the kids

Light Pollution, Solar System and Telescope Displays

Astronomy Presentations – Shows to run throughout the afternoon.

(8:30 p.m. to Midnight)

Weather permitting, public observing session at Ashburnham Memorial Park (Armour Hill) with telescopes and other observing aids provided by the PAA and instruction by its members.  This is a free event and for all ages too.  Come see Venus, Jupiter, our Moon, star clusters and other celestial sights. Just dress appropriately for the weather.  Parking is restricted access only, so be prepared to park at the Peterborough Museum and Archives parking lot and walk a short distance up the hill.

Community Event - Windsor/Leamington - World Wildlife Fund Canada to host upcoming run.

The Kids' Run for Nature, hosted by World Wildlife Fund Canada is coming to parks all across Canada. It is a national movement driven by kids and families who are taking action for nature. Windsor will be hosting this 1 km, 3 km and 5 km fun run Saturday, June 23 at 9 AM - 12 PM at the Malden Park Visitor's Centre, 4200 Malden Rd.

This run gives kids the chance to get active in nature and raise funds for the conservation of wildlife. All ages are welcome to participate.

It’s a great way for kids to be active, have fun, and be part of a global community in supporting Wildlife and nature.
