WomEnchant Chorus & Drummers, Laura Thomas Artistic Director, present their 25th Anniversary Concert Sunday April 29, at 2:30 p.m.  at Hernder Estate Wines, 1607 Eighth Ave. Louth, St. Catharines. WomEnchants's unique vocal performance and drumming rhythms, guest soloists, door prizes, cash bar and a reception following the concert.

Admission $40, 12 and under $20.  Tickets available at the door.

1000 Islands Writers Festival – April 27 – 29, 2018

Experience a fabulous weekend of Reading by the River at the 1000 Islands Writers Festival with some of Canada’s favourite authors!

Enjoy up-close and personal events with Festival Patron Terry Fallis; Maureen Jennings; Kelley Armstrong; Barbara Fradkin; Ken Cuthbertson; Marissa Stapley; Katherine Ashenburg; Heather Smith; children’s author Vikki VanSickle; and author/illustrator Matt James. The festival opens with a celebration of storytelling with Stories l A Matter of Life and Death. This year’s festival also includes a Songwriters Series with local songwriters Kevin Head, Cliff Edwards and Jenica Rayne.  The festival will host eleven Living Room Sessions, three Writers Workshops, a free Pirate Party Bonanza for families, two meal engagements, two special afternoon events and an evening celebration with Stories and Songs of the River.

Lights, music, dance!  Prepare to be dazzled on Saturday, June 9th for Quinte Ballet School of Canada’s professional students production of 'Dance of Spring'!  Tickets are now on sale for the much-anticipated Professional Division’s powerhouse performance on Saturday, June 9th at 7pm, presented at Centennial Secondary School's theatre auditorium, located at 160 Palmer Rd. Belleville.  celebrating the end of a long winter with a fresh and varied palette of dance styles and themes.  The dancing begins with the recreation division’s community-spirited ‘Assemblé’ on Saturday, June 2nd at 2:30pm, followed by Both performances will be staged at Centennial Secondary School’s spacious theatre auditorium located at 160 Palmer Rd., Belleville. 

‘Dance of Spring’ celebrates the end of a long winter with a fresh and varied palette of dance styles and themes, showcasing the immense talent, drive and dedication of the dancers, made up of local students and students from BC to NFLD.  The show packs a lot into the approximately 75-minute line-up with a powerful delivery of beautifully executed new works, colourful lighting effects and costumes.  Tickets for the reserved seating events are available at QBSC’s administrative office, over the phone and at the door (pre-purchase and pick-up is always strongly advised).  Prices are $22 for Adults, $18 for Seniors and Students, and Children 12yrs and under are $12.  Discounts for groups of 10 or more.

‘Assemblé’ is a charming and popular afternoon’s entertainment for families, on Saturday, June 2nd at 2:30pm.  Reserved seating tickets are available at Quinte Ballet School of Canada (196 Palmer Rd.), at the door, or by calling 613-962-9274.  This year's show features over 20 choreographed works created by QBSC's professional Artistic staff, from Ballet to Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop, and features student performers aged 4 to 18 from the Quinte area, including PEC, Brighton, Stirling, Trenton and Belleville.   ‘Assemblé’ is the culmination of all that the enthusiastic students have learned over the past two terms and provides the opportunity to display their new dance skills.

Container gardening is quick, easy, affordable and takes up less space than traditional gardens.  If you are looking to downsize your garden or live in an apartment with minimal space then this program is for you! 

 

Join Bill Ross Jr. of Ross’ Nurserymen for a free how-to program on creating your own amazing container garden.  The program will be held in the Meeting Room at the Chatham Branch on Saturday, May 5 at 10:30 am.
