Beginning Tuesday, July 3rd 2018  and continuing daily (except Monday) until labour day, Scottish Teas will be available from 1-4 pm at Hutchison House Museum, 270 Brock Street, Peterborough.

 

Scottish Tea, served on the terrace in the period garden, includes fresh baked scones, preserves, whipped cream, oatcakes, and tea, lemonade, or ice tea. Complimentary tours of the 1840s restored stone house are included with the teas. The cost for tea is $10.00 for adults and youth, $5.00 for children under 10 years of age.

Community Event - Smiths Falls/Perth/North Grenville - Smiths Falls Movies Under the Stars

Join us for Movies Under the Stars, a 10 week series of free outdoor movie screenings this summer on Thursday nights by the Rideau Canal in beautiful Centennial Park (under the Water Tower) in Smiths Falls. Tonight's movie is Jumanji - Welcome to the Jungle

  • Bring the family and a blanket or a lawn chair and spend your summer evening watching a family-friendly FREE movie on the big inflatable screen. 
  • Pre-show activities start at 7:00 pm with movie starting at dusk (usually around 9:20 pm in July and by the end of August around 8:30 pm). The activities are organized by our community partner and change week to week.
  • Concession stand opens at 7:00 p.m. selling hot dogs, popcorn, chips, cold drinks, and cotton candy with .50 cents from every $1.00 going to our community partner.
  1. Note 1: RAIN/HIGH WINDS: Sorry but the movie will be cancelled if there is rain, possibility of rain or high winds. The decision to cancel a movie will be made between 3-5 pm and posted on our Facebook Page and on our website. Please NO PHONE CALLS check Facebook or website.
  2. Note 2: PARKING: There is a large parking lot under the water tower that can be accessed from Old Mill Road. You can also park at the Swimming area on Park Street, park on Main St. East, George St. S. and Strathcona Ave and walk over to the park. Confederation Drive is blocked off from 6:30pm till 11:00pm for the safety of all.

The trustees of Sutherland Cemetery invite everyone to the annual memorial service on Sunday, June 24 at 2 pm. There will be a short service of remembrance of the faithful departed followed by refreshments.Sutherland Cemetery, founded in 1833, is at the location of the former Trinity Church. This area was one of the first pioneer settlements along the St. Clair River.

Join us at the Chatham Branch from August 27 to August 31 for the “Escape to Hogwarts: Harry Potter Breakout Room.”  Teams will have 30 minutes to search for clues and solve puzzles that will lead to their missing Hogwarts Express ticket.

Registration is required.  Wizards, witches and muggles can register in teams of 2 to 5 at any CKPL branch or online by searching “Escape to Hogwarts” at search.ckpl.ca.  Registration will begin on August 17.  Only one person from each group needs to register for a timeslot.

Join the Bobcaygeon Horticulture Society for its heritage garden tour.  The gardens of six century homes and farms will be open for the tour.  Continuing our theme is an exhibit at the Boyd Museum of 19th century gardening.  Within the stone-wall enclosed grounds of the museum, enjoy a Kawartha Dairy ice cream while shopping for heritage herbs and seeds.  Displays of basket weaving and beekeeping reflect the ingenuity of times past.  To complete your day, be sure to visit Kawartha Settlers' Village, our wonderful 19th century reconstruction, for a tour of several pioneer gardens as well as a traditional dessert-tea served on the veranda of Henderson House

Tickets:  $15.00;  kids under 16, free
