Two local social media organizations – W.E. Put the WIN in Windsor-Essex and Eyes on Windsor – are hosting a Ganatchio Trail cleanup honouring Anne Widholm, an avid trail user who was in the news last fall when she was the victim of a brutal attack during one of her walks.
Gather family and friends to join the rest of the community as we walk in the footstep of this wonderful community member. Teams are encouraged to wear team shirts, especially if you are a company group. Please wear comfortable running shoes and clothes you won't mind getting dirty, a hat, sunglasses and sunblock.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring any tools they feel may be needed such as shovels, tongs, rope with hooks, etc. The goal is to clean up all the trash from the main and sub trails and along the banks of the ditch, river and ponds.
Participant bags will be available for pick-up at the event. They will include garbage bags, gloves, water, wet wipes and a granola bar. Thank you for the support by Essex Region Conservation and The City of Windsor and several local businesses.
Parking is available at the base of the hill in Little River and the Little River Park (Riverside Kiwanis Park parking lot) on a first come basis. Parking is also available along side streets (please be aware of parking restrictions).
More information and instructions will be given the morning of the cleanup. Please arrive just before 9 am for instructions on April 21.
Help us pick up trash from the trail, just as Anne had done on her daily walks! Please help spread the word.
Remember those killed or injured in the workplace and renew your commitment to Worker Health, Safety and Well-Being. April 28 from 11am to 1pm at St. Augustine's Church, 5145 Wyandottle St. E. at Westminster. Please visit www.wdlc.ca for additional details.
